Can anyone tell me if Team Psycho Cells are good for my 12 stock? The specs are 1s 6400 70c. Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with these or how about Revtech?

If they are under 30.00, then yes
The "A-spec" batteries we have in stock perform just as well.
Many folks have had very good luck with them.

I bought two used Revtech batteries from a user here. One is 100c! They seem to be in good shape and no puffing. He says he only ran them about 10 times or so, so im assuming that's still very little use on the batteries assuming he properly charged them.

The "C" ratings are mostly marketing, and the C rating is the continuous discharge rating. So for the Team Psycho cells, 6.4A * 70 = 448 amps. No connector, and especially the 16 gauge wire we use, will handle that amount of current without de-soldering itself. Thus, there isn't any way to actually get that discharge rate.

A 17.5 motor may draw around 60A instantaneous current (from a dead stop), but the average is way below that. For example, my TC uses around 1900 mAh in 6 minutes, for an average current draw of 19 amps, or around 3C for a 6400 mAh battery.

The Turnigy batteries are very good, especially for the money.

Default sheet foam and CF

Now that I have had a chance to drive my VBCs briefly emphasis on briefly I see they are a bit fragile for my skill, or lack of skill level as the case may be. I am interested in making my own bumpers out of foam sheet and CF. I picked up one of Parma's universal bumpers which looks like it will work. Does anyone know the trade name or technical term used to describe the material? I would like to just order a large sheet of it.
Secondly is there a better source for CF sheet than ebay. Which ships from the UK. In the past I had access to the CF cloth and layered up my own to make a NTC3 bumper that was a little wider than the RPM that was available. It worked great, but I would rather just order the sheet and cut it out this time.

Any thoughts, concerns, and leads would be greatly appreciated.

CarbonJoe, will your Flash 04 be at the track Saturday? I know Tom is really interested in seeing, and or getting one also. You should have seen the look on his face when he finally decides to pull the trigger and buy the one in the case and it was already sold. Wayne said "Sorry Joe just called and bought it. " I said "Wow! Now that's quick. You just got beat by a guy who isn't even here."

Man ive been looking at those F1 cars for a while and they look like a lot of fun but way too fragile for my liking. Ive been busy working on my cars. The 12 stock is almost ready and the TCXX is moving right along. I had good luck getting my hands on a used TC5 which will be my primary VTA car until I get a little better.

I missed you guys this past Saturday because of some family obligations but im itching to get the 12 on the track early morning to try it out. Im still waiting for the receiver to arrive and then its all set. I have a thread where im slowly posting my progress if you guys want to check it out and chime in.

Mel, how are you liking that 12 stock? You get a chance to run it last Sat? Im excited to get mine on the track, it seems like it will stick like glue!

There is a NIB Hobbywing Justock in the FS thread for $55. I don't think its sold yet at least the add hasn't said so. Might be a good price.

Rear wheels are 43mm. Spur is 80 and pinion is 49.. I have to grind down the rotator cup to fit a bigger pinion, I can't move the motor any further up so 49 on the pinion is the biggest I can do right now.

Also, I made a trade tonight for something that im rather excited about. It'll be a while before I have all the electronics to run it but its a great start! Ill share more once I have it in my hands.

All you Gate VTA guys...bring them things out to the Firecracker Classic on Saturday, July 6, 2013! We're planning on a "All-American Stock Car" type class, in line with Toledo's "SLO" (Sedan Late Model Oval) class (that'd be Hobby Stop West in Toledo, if ya wanna look 'em up). We're gonna allow a few more bodies as well, if you're looking for something different to run

See the "Firecracker Classic thread...
