As well as any other information that entrants & visitors to the event will need to make their stay an enjoyable and memorable one.

For those of you visiting from overseas the following information may be of interest.

Queensland offers a huge variety of activities to the visiting racer and their family.

One of the beauties about visiting Brisbane is that you can pretty much treat every day in this sub-tropical city like a leisurely Sunday! And in this city, Sunday does not mean the shops are closed and the streets empty.

On the contrary. Brisbane, seven days a week is full of vitality, colour, and plenty of options. Whether visitors are into shopping, art, dining out, soaking up the sun or simply enjoying the beautiful Brisbane River, our city has much to offer.

After dark, there is always plenty of entertainment in Brisbane, and a seemingly endless choice of things to do. Aside from the 24-hour Casino, there are night-clubs, pubs and wine bars to socialise in and meet some friendly Brisbane locals!

Ask around for the places to go - an intimate sidewalk jazz bar, a blues club in a restored church - just follow the sound of music and people enjoying the balmy evenings.

Brisbane city is not only a great destination in its own right: It is an ideal stepping-off point for a range of day tours - into the surrounding hinterland of South East Queensland Country or the vibrant coastal regions of the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast including Noosa & Surfers Paradise. Just ask a local to suggest where to begin. For those staying on after the event it is a short flight to North Queensland and the world famous Great Barrier Reef or stay on and take in the Indy Carnival 2006 on the Gold Coast.

For more information on activities to do before and after the racing has finished make sure to visit http://www.queenslandholidays.com.au/

There is also more detailed information and links to Brisbane and Queensland tourist information on the official 2006 World Championship website at http://www.200mmifmarworlds.com
Kind Regards

Track & facility look great, definitely doesn't look as bumpy as Brasil was... But that was a fun track as well.
Seems like you do a real serious job in holding the 200mm Worlds, hope I'll be able to come to the race.

Some stats from the work completed this past weekend.

"The statistics for the weekend were staggering. About 13 metres of sand and soil was moved and spread. 200 meters of turf was laid along with the laying of nearly 7 metres of concrete in the ripple strips and marshall points."

Along with the info above the form work was done to complete the stairs and top deck of the sunken pits which will be poured this week as well as the bracket and conduit was installed in preperation for the mounting of the electronic scoreboard and multiple timing loops.

Thank you to all the members who turned up over the past two days to help out without you guys we wouldn't be so far ahead.

Some images of of the people involved and work undertaken this weekend. More images of the work done will be posted tomorrow.

Regards Alastair

Default Track Redevelopment

The sunken pits are now 95% finished. All that is left to do is to cap the pit wall, install the outer pit wall curb and put the finish coat over the concrete.

All the resurfacing work is complete with new turf laid and all corner curbs in. Curbs still need to be painted and will be done early in the new year once the turf has had a chance to grow in over the holiday break.

A couple of images below of the sunken pits. 10 pages of images from the redevelopment work can be found on the Worlds Website.

Regards Alastair

Default 200mm Nitro World Championship

Hi Racers,

Does anyone know what's the latest minimum legal weight limit for 200mm Nitro ? As per memory, it was 1725grams with the race transponder.

Is it still minimum 1725 grams with the personal transponder as the personal transponder is much lighter, about 8grams ?

Thanks !
