Fast flowing or does it have a tight infield.

The spool (pin in) setup is great for out of corner traction but understeers a bit into the corners but is definately beeter than running the oneway (pins out)

After running the spool and loving it I thought i couldnt get the car better until i ran the gear diff upfront and especially after following theguys advice of going very thick on front diff oil.My car is on rails.
Now to get a new powerplant for the new season.
hey razzor
i run the locked front a love it so far but could do with more steering
what part do i need to buy to put a front diff in it

as for kosta we will if he can stay on the track without pissing too many people off

Default Fixed spool

I too tried the fixed spool up front and you really do get some good on power steering.
I would say if you like to drive aggressively then it's the way to go!

Myself I think I can drive a little quicker with a front diff'. You can still get the on power steering you have with the spool, you still have the braking but you can get more off power and initial turn in on the corners with the diff.

I really want to give the front one-way a try. Only because I think it would suit my driving style more.

Welcome to the family Carl.

Advice? ........loads. But mainly enjoy the build.
I'm just starting to build my third G4. They're a great car and everyone in the family will help with what ever problems you come accross.

Off the top of my head. Here are a couple of tips.
1) The shocks. The tops come in two pieces. The eyelet and the shock cap. We have found it best to glue these together. Some have even glued the bladder to the eyelet also.

2) The two speed adjusting screws are slightly too long. When you adjust these to get the car to change-up when you want, the screws grind into the two-speed housing! Cut these screws down to 15mm.

3) When you install the RX battery. Make sure you mount the pack as close to the tank as possible. I have shaved some of the top deck to get it a little closer. Otherwize the side belt can sometimes catch it.

What car have you had before Carl?

Default Front Diff' parts.

Hi Paul,

The diff' parts all come seperately. Here is all the parts you will nead. (I hope I didn't miss any )

502302 Diff case & pulley set
502117 Bevelled gear set
502118 Gasget set
502116 O rings, shim's, joint

I think thats it Paul. You'll nead your diff' fluid of your choice.
Try different set ups. But from experience here some things I've found....

Low to medium grip tracks............... Try 100,000Wt Front, 5-10,000Wt rear.
Medium to High grip tracks .............. Try 50,000Wt Front, 20-30,000Wt rear.

I hope this helps.

Carl,

You'll be suprised how much of a difference there is with the G4s compared to the old G4C and E.
I had the E when they first came out. TM have addressed all the earlier problems we had and gone further to produce and 'out-an-out' race car!

Believe me you wont be dissopointed!

What motor you going to go for?

Default Motor

Depends how serious you want to go.........

There are some wicked modified motors out there right now. But you will have to pay $400 dollars or more!
Murnan, Massimo Fantini modify motors and they have huge power !!!!

Or you can get a good stock motor for around $200 or slightly more.

Yes....all the arms work. The front uprights have changed slightly but the old ones will still work.

There's a really good motor comming very soon.....I'm expecting mine any day!
If its any good I'll let you know.
Other than that. Nova Rossi motors are always good. The new 12-3CT and CTS are great motors!!!
Mega have some great motors out. RB Motors are always reliable.
O.S motors have a VERY competative line of motors out at the moment called the TZ series.

If I was to recommend one, I would say. The Nova Rossi 12-3 CT for around $300 - $350

Helllo All G4S crew,

Today was my very first shake down test & tune day....

How did it go?

Well first off we had a few problems, such as the clutch spring nut was screwed down too far, this did'nt allow it to engage drive what so over.

Basically we backed the nut spring back of a tab to flush even and then it felt better.

Then we had second gear not engaging, we then realised the spur gear nut HEX was loose, and this basically had to be tighten as from factory it was not tight enough....

It was a like we owned the practice track today...

Once that was done, then it was fire it up again and adjust the second gear screws to make work.

On the first few laps, i went slow, took about 4 laps to get the feel of car, controller and power.

O Yeah it felt good, everything came good after a few more laps, more tuning in the Mega ZX.12 and it was on song

The track is on an down hill angle, and was heaps slippery off the race line, but i got some nice consistent laps and it was no drams what so ever.

No glitches for the day "Thank God" and the best news of the day,
Was i think a RECORD for South Australia 5 G4S at the same track on the same day......

Some had a few probs here and there but once all sorted most where on song for there race this Sunday!!!

I did notice a few things i need to change on rear settings:

more camber as outside tires wore more, this is due to the track layout an angle....

The setup of shocks, springs and height was good, much better as i let one of the Pro guys with more experience drive mine and he was like "Man ya car is so much better to drive, handle and better power to the ground compared to his.

He then changed his settings to his G4S and was much much happier!

Overall i got about 5 tanks out of the car and all in all, it was a positive day for me thats for sure....!

Lets just say, she is no longer a Virgin

Enjoy, time to clean it now.....
