or, do i need to discharge the receiver pack in some way?

It's not recommended to discharge NIMH batteries at all, although I'm sure some have tried it. It's best to keep some level of charge on your pack when stored but not left on a charger. NIMH's don't develop memory like Nicads. Heat is the real enemy of NIMH's like we use for RX packs.

I have always heard that you should store NI-MH packs at least 50% or more charged when sitting for a while. I fully peak charge mine after every day of running with no problems. Good luck.

I don't think it will hurt it....just give it a full charge before using it next time.

I heard the 50% thing when storing NMH batts too.
YEs heat can kill 'em. High charge rates can overheat NMH batts.
