Default Cleaning an Engine?

Hello All,
My one-way bearing in my Novarossi engine broke and it left allot of small metal shavings in my engine. The engine never started and the flywheel didn't spin very much, so the damage should be minimal. I just need to know the proper way to clean the engine out and what to do when starting it for the first time. If I didn't pay so much for the engine I would probably just buy another...but I will try to save it as the one-way is only $15.
Thanks

What I would do is a complete teardown and flush all the parts with some sort of cleaner. You just don't know where those shavings are hiding so this is the best solution in my opinion. And by doing this, you will get a better view at what else is damaged.
