Spektrum module! No way the menu of the transmitter will work.
Indeed a rebind of the receiver is needed with the right setting of the controls to get the preverb failsafe. (I always use the trim to set some brake when binding the receiver)

It does'nt mentioned a Spektrum DX radios that that can be searched on the menu of the transmitter for binding process.

Normal Operation:
Throttle trigger is pulled: Carb opens, car runs.
Throttle trigger is pushed: Carb closes, brake is applied then car stops.
Servo Reversed:
Throttle trigger is pulled: Carb closes, brake is applied then car stops.
Throttle trigger is pushed: Carb opens, car runs.
I don't think this will solve the Fail Safe problem, it just makes the conditions worse.
