HPI Super Nitro Restoration

4 Attachment(s)
I picked up a HPI Super Nitro RS4 for a restoration project. While it won't be a daily driver because of difficulty of getting replacement parts, it won't be a shelf queen either.

I picked it up off ebay, its not worn out but it is well loved. It has been upgraded with the 2 speed transmission and has a OS 15CV Hyper on it with pipe and header. The car was a lot lighter than I expected when I got it so it should zip right along with a potent mill like the 15CV in it. Its almost a runner right now, the one way bearing started to slip when I put fuel in the car, but it did get it to hit on my bump box. I may send the piston/sleeve out to RayA for a re-pinch while I have the car apart.

For the restoration I'm going to use a reproduction alfa romeo 156 body from team blue groove and some HPI WR8 rims/tires.

I picked up some NOS hop ups and some new production ones from RcDamper on ebay.

I have
GPM Lower Arms
GPM Machined Chassis
GPM universals
GPM aluminum drive hex's
Megatech top deck
Megatech front belt holder

I'm planning on using shock shaft bump stops (fuel tubing) to help preserve the new chassis from road rash. The pictures are from the e-bay listing I haven't even had a chance to look it over really. I know the center belt tensioner is on upside down. I'm going to disassemble the car, clean everything with nitro blast, change the belts and re-assemble everything with the new parts. I'm excited to see how this turns out. These were sought after cars around me growing up, I never got a chance to get one.

I got the restoration album started. No new pics in it but I will add more to it later.

Man that makes me wish I hadn't sold mine all those years ago. Mine was a Viper too. Out of all the vehicles I've had thru the years my SNRS4 was the most fun and was by far my favorite. Good luck with the resto.

Just found this thread on here. I am also working on an SNRS4. Its been a challenge as finding parts, and its my first nitro on road car.

I will be watching this thread lol.
