Gentleman, please don't worry about options for the car at this stage. You need to spend time studying your instructions and very carefully build the car as best you can. Do not worry about hop ups to make you faster as the only thing that will help is a sh*t load of worn out tyres. A fast car is about 80% tyre, get this one thing right and you will start finding the needed items but remember your car is very good and fast out of the box.
Very few things have let me down over the past 18 months running the MTX but the following can fail.
The front dog bones bind a little at full steering and will pop out if you hit something mid corner.
Eventually the plastic wheel hexes will rub on the bearing especially if you lose a wheel and start putting extra effort into doing the nuts up tight.
Wire belt tensioners are just pox.
The two speed shoes will fail at some point, the grub screw that sets the gap can strip. This happens after the cam has a nice little groove worn into it. It's not a big deal you just need to keep an eye on it.
When you get this thing on the track go as slow as you need to make sure you stay on the track. If you need to be marshalled often you will not win.
Good luck.

Well said!

Couldnt agree more! Bone Stock with no hop up will run more then fine! those hop ups are not a must but some of the items are good to have. and some of those are just eye candies!

my new mtx3 will arrive next week, finally! any recommendations on its assembly or setup. My track has a 400ft long straight and is huge and fast, any modifications to the gearing? finally any must hop ups (universals, etc)?
thanks

400 feet?!?

AL hex hubs
Universals

sand down your brake pads, and change the gearing otherwise you will blow your motor.

That surely is one long tie-rod on the fuel tank. What brand is it? Mugen or Kawahara? Nitropimp, can you tell me?

Thanks, the body was painted by Paintin Pete. He sponsors my friend and I but he whipped this out in no time since I damaged my other body!

The zip tie is actually the original one used in the movie "Top Gun" They were going to be auctioned off on Ebay and the money was to be donated to a kid's charity but my friend snagged a couple for me. I used to run a longer tie but I was DQ'ed due to the aerodynamic drag it caused while other cars were drafting me.
