mtx-3 top speed
 

Hello all can sum one help me out i have a Mugen MTX-3 with a Novarossi NS15S5 on 20% nitro and i only can get a top speed of 73MPH/117KPH and sum guy on the rcnitro forums had a MTX-3 with a Novarossi NS12S5 and he got a top speed of 78MPH/125KPH :confused: and my motor has more power and rpm how come he go's faster is it that his car is lighter then mine

check his fuel brand and his % of nitromethane. i think tuned pipe has a little something to do with speed also. check his brand and setup compared to yours.

How did you determine your top speed? I doubt any small block powered sedan can go much above 70 if at all(not scientific just a guess) I have seen the fastest sedan racers in the world at my home track and were radar gunned at the end of the straight at 58/60. this is a 280 foot straight. I know top speed attempts would be made with taller gearing but the drag increases at higher velocities go up astronomically. the current issue of rc nitro has an article with a schumacher fusion heavily modified with a sirio 21 and a 3 speed and that car with almost 3 hp topped out at 84.9. find a way to drop one of those new collari wc 21.s in your mtx-3 and you will go 80+.I suppose if someone found a way to completley gut a sedan and take a pound or so out of it, it might be possible, but i doubt the car could hold together. just my opinion.

i see what u mean i got the venom speed meter it could be way out my mate has a Kyosho V-One RR Evolution with a RBconcept V15 Turbo 5 Port motor in it and he gets a top speed of 62MPH/101KPH and i get him from start to finish so if i gear it for less speed i will get to the top speed faster and it will be beter for track then to hey
