Im looking to get a 1/8 scale on road. I wanted to get some advice on the ups and downs of some of the 1/8 kits out there. Should i got with hpi or kyosho mugen etc..?

I'll give you the same advise everyone gets,look for the best local parts availability and carry plenty of spares.If you're new and you run it on track you're going to break it and there's nothing more frustrating than not being able to fix it. 1/8 scale is kind of like Indy cars in that there are only two types of drivers,THOSE THAT HAVE BROKEN THEIR CARS AND THOSE THAT WILL BREAK THEIR CAR.The 1/8 cars are all very good it's all personal preference and product support.

go with the new ,mrx4 from mugen.
wy, it is a rely good car,and the spare parts the most importend thing, you can get them evrywhere.

It's a great deal, I've been pleased with mine. My LHS stocked up on parts, so local support is good. Read through that post, it should give you a good idea of what it is...

Are you sure it's RTR? I don't think it comes with engine or pipe neither. Forget servos.

I was checking myself the distributor's site, unsure what's included I believe engine, pipe, header is not. Tires probably are. But I might be wrong.\ or unless RTR means something else in 1/8 world.

$399 is just the CHASSIS only..no radio, servos, electronic, motor and pipe included..........I am sure this XR8 kit is almost as good as Mugen, Kyosho or Serpent platform.......however, consider how you can get parts from them.

Typical serpent mugen kyosho chassis itself are average $500-$650 each. Engine $300 +/-, pipe, $80, high end servos $90 each x2, then radio of your choice $250 +/- plus other little thingy.

My suggestion, buy a used car...a lot cheaper. (Serpent 950 used around $300, compare to the new one $600)

Yeah I wouldnt expect proceed support to be that great anymore....if any. Except for online and thats dwindling.

Go with the latest , theres also some kits that perform really nicely and dont have to break the bank.

Artificial-I, what can you tell us about your Proceed? How long have you had it, and how has it held up/performed?

I could still get parts for my old RS4 Racer 2 not long ago, are the parts for the Proceed being discontinued? Or are they just being carried by fewer dealers?

I didn't even find those Piccos in my 8th scale research, are they older? It turns out that one of our local guys has a Proceed. He likes it, but is afraid to drive it on our reletively small track...

With all the great 1/8th cars out there..........I don't know why HPI Proceed is within your range of 1/8th choice...?
I would say Serpent / Mugen should be your top choices, then Kyosho a close 2nd (due to part support no longer be under GP or TOWER).....there will be no 3rd choice...(my opinion).

P.S....if money is no object, squeeze in SMP slide V5 on your 3rd choice.

Don't forget about Delta XP4... I know it is very very similar to the Kyosho.
