Default Serpent 835, what engine?

Hi guys,

I've been asking questions about 235mm kits and it looks like I settled on Serpent 835. What engines should I be considering? I for sure don't need the highest power beast at the begining, but I don't want a slouch either. I'd say decent power for decent money.

If you can mentione what pipe for a particular engine that would be great too.

Thanks for all your help, it's been great so far.

Price range...? It can be from $150 to $350 plus.....SB 15 or BB 15?

So far, if you can order it, try the X15 from RB...that is the only 1 that I know of is still making it.....I know Nova Rossi still has BB 15, but don;t know where and how to get it...

X15 is running something like $250 plus.....up to $400 for RODY version.

Or, get the SB15 and the SB15 engine mount from Serpent....good luck finding those engine mount, I ordered 3 from Serpent, they have send me 1...and said they are in back order.....

And for SB15...you will have a lot fo choice, Nova Rossi, Nova MAX, MEGA...etc, price from low $200 to $350

All right, let me recap the engine situaton.

The chassis will except both SB 15 or BB 15. SB 15 will require a special engine mount made only by Serpent and is very hard to come by(I will spend a month in Europe during summer so hopefully chances of getting this Serpent part will be better over there). But if I get one, the engine selection will grow.

Now, do BB 15s generally make more power? Or not so. What are the pros and cons using BB 15 opposed to SB 15?

Thanks

What's the actual part number for the special engine mount? Any link to mytsn.com so I can see it. I couldn't find it there.

Thanks

Big Block is easier to tune & has a smoother powerband than a small block. I would stick to the BB in an 835.

Is Team Trinity the only distr. in US? I checked thei site and they do not list CX15 on their site. Maybe I will have to buy this baby in Europe too.

The other BB 15 would be the X15 from RB, anything else? Is the whole series X15 in BB version?

Thanks

Like me, ordering direct from Serpent USA is the WORST thing to do.....ordered 15 items, send 4 items in 3 shipment, the rest.....la la land.
Yes, buy the small block engine mount then you will have tons of engine to choose from....
From my experience....BB 15 does easier to tune, last longer, runs cooler.....however, BIG BLOCK 15 does not necessary any powerfully then small block 12/15 like back 4-5 years ago when small block 12 is just released. Engine like Nova MAX 15 or JP mod 15 or MEGA 15 (even stock) are par or even faster then CX15 or X15 big block............but you have to pay the price, and these small block DOES WEAR FASTER , way faster the big block engine....talk about 1-1.5 gallon of fuel, you are ready for the whole engine internal replacement compare to easy 2 gallon for BB 15.

I would definitely buy the $30 engine mount and take advantage of the latest SB 15 technology.......

I do not see Ashford has X15 BB listed, but you can give Robert a call, I don't think it is less then $300....
On the other hand, MEGA SB 15 (by Serpent) is less then $210, combo is around $260....I think that is a bargain.

Does Winner Circle still selling GQ for $9...? They somehow "removed" the GQ brand on their ad, and just listing $9.00 per set....whats the deal? Thanks..

Thanks guys, I think I am much better educated now to know what I am looking for.

Rookie Solara:
What is in the combo of 260 USD, can you post a link? I don't think they combo the engine with a pipe, do they?

Other than that, I like the idea of SB 15 and special engine mount. I think that's what I am going to start with. What pipe is good one to go with this engine. Single or dual chamber, wha brand etc. Link would be nice.

Nah he carries twisters now. He said that he had a hard time getting GQ's in stock after a while.
