2013 IFMAR 1/8th I.C. Track Racing World Championships
With only about 4 months to go, I’m surprised at the lack of talk for this event so I will start a thread about it.
Here is the official site for more info: http://www.jmrca.jp/2013_ic_track/index
The Pre-Worlds / Japanese National Titles are this weekend and Robert Pietsch is in attendance.
The rules seem a bit confusing. Tyre additives are allowed for the Pre-worlds but not the World Championships and some body rules will not be enforced this weekend.
I notice in the new IFMAR rules that the 3 engine rule has been abolished. I will expect to see Collari show up with a suitcase full of engines and use a different one every run. I remember seeing this at the Worlds in Messina in 2005. Speaking of Collari, can he bounce back after missing the final in Miami?
There are 4 choices of controlled fuel at this event and the Nitro limit remains at 25%. I wonder which brand everyone will choose and will they change during practice if there is enough of a supply.
Hard to predict a winner but you would think the Japanese drivers would be favourites, given their home track advantage. Takaaki Shimo, Keisuke Fukuda and Masao Tanaka have all won National Titles at this track and the Sahasi brothers are always fast here. Will Atsushi Hara race again? Will Masami race? He has been driving a 1/8th lately. There has been a couple of brand changes amongst the Japanese drivers, Shimo leaving Kyosho after 22 years and joining Mugen while Fukuda left Mugen after many years to join KM Racing.
Anyway, it should be a great event! I will be there but probably as a spectator only.

Nice write up Snowy!
There seems to be little or no event coverage of the pre worlds at all this weekend.
Anyone with any news or information please do post here.

I did see some fast lap times there, but can't tell who it is.
Let's do a sensor number hunt and match

I have some more updates and it seems there are quite a lot of non-Japanese entries at the Pre-Worlds than I first thought.
All the KM team are there including Meen V, Hang, Chavit and even Adrien Bertin is there. Oliver Mack and Jilles Groskamp are there representing Shepherd and there is one Xray driver but don’t know who he is, maybe he is a privateer.
This of course, adds to the strong Japanese teams that are well represented by the local talent.
Fastest so far is young Takehiro Terauchi (Mugen/Novarossi), Masao Tanaka (Serpent/Max) in second, Robert Pietsch (Mugen/Novarossi) in third and Takaaki Shimo (Mugen/OS Speed) in fourth. After that, there is a bunch of Japanese drivers before I see Groskamp and Mack further down the list. I suspect some guys haven’t registered their transponder number as yet and will probably do this in the next day or so.
