Look at the HPI RS4 3 RTR or the Traxxas Nitro 4-tec. Those are pretty good starting points.

good choises........my first car was a RS4 3 SS very fast easy instructions to build it or the RTR is also great....HPI is a good company very reliable.... that would b a good decision if u went with that car...........

its also very very powerful the motor blew my mind...i didnt expect anything like wat u get from that 12r ss motor that comes with the SS kit....the ones that come in the RTR's now isnt as great....doesnt have much RPM......if ur going to start racing grab the kit verson so u can choose good electronics and put it together urself.......that way if u break anything on ur car or ur having a problem with anything u know exactly how to fix it.........

That's a good kit to start with. Replacement parts are easy to get. See what your local hobby shop carries, that helps too. If you learn by building it your self, you know how to fix it if it breaks. Just take your time. You always have us to turn to if you have any problems:nod:

my question to you is, do you have any rc equipment already?
like a radio, servos, batteries, charger, etc... etc...

and what are you looking to spend as a total for everything?

The 18ss kit is even better.

My vote goes for NTC3 RTR+, almost all LHS has parts for this car.

I did'nt even think about that one, I'd say the best bang for your buck RTR out there. Not too many changes when your ready to step up in class. You have your options.

NTC3 + RTR!!! Awesome straight out of the box. Very fast and ready to tear up the track with the addition of some foam tyres!

Pretty much all the cars mentioned here are over $300. I'd also like to quote on what someone mentioned: "do you have any RC equipment?" That's a must if you wanna enjoy the bashing time. Otherwise, you're gonna be sending it to the LHS for repairs and paying the fees. DIY will only cost you your time and a lil energy.

I currently run electric..

I have a possible deal pending on:

Tamiya TG10R - TRF shocks, CF upgrades
RB motor - no idea on the model
3channel radio with brand new rx & 2 std servos
starter boxes
spares galore
rx batteries
glow starters
tires
basically everything except fuel and battery chargers

I can buy all this stuff for less than the cost of a new HPI Nitro RTR

I want to try nitro, but the thought of spending over $1000 just to check out if I like it.. seems abit much

I am of thinking this setup would at least let me see if I like nitro, and if I do... I can then replace the car and engine for next season, without a huge expense this season. (I am just recovering financially from getting into electrics over the last 6 months)
