The 710 I am considering is in great shape and comes with everything except the receiver and starter and the seller is asking for $400.
Please let me know you thoughts and much appreciated!
As a former owner of a serpent 710, I would say don't buy it. It's drivetrain efficiency wasn't that great, wasn't as easy to work on as cars today. Parts will be harder to find. The clutch wasn't as good as a rtr clutch today. There has just been a lot of money put into development of nitro touring cars since (2003 is when I had mine, it was great then compared to the other cars) But time is the enemy of any undeveloped race car. If it was a 733 I would say fine go for it since that was a pretty good car. But at this point your better off getting something like a mugen mtx4 that you can find SUPER cheap and it wasn't a bad car. But there are about 20 cars on the list that I would buy before that. Hell, If your that hard off I have older NT1's from 2007 that I can sell you and you can be competitive club racing with it anywhere.
I would say set a budget and solicit people in the want to buy thread on here. That way you get a better bang for your buck. I sold my 710 a couple years ago for like 80 bucks in ready to race mint condition, new 4mm chassis that was black anodized, rcc shocks and all the modern updates I could make. It still wasn't a great car compared to current era. Get something else. For 400 your getting screwed.
