If you have to ask why its so much better, you've never used one before.

Thurst me, the Hudy us SOOO much better than anything else. I have the Ofna, 2 of my friends have the Hudy, and at the track i use theirs. One of them is from the mid 90s and its still better than any other brand. Save up and get thy Hudy.

I got my Hudy in November of 2000. The DC only fully manual one. It has served my faithfully since day one.
A few years ago I brought an off brand truer from someone getting out of the hobby. It was automatic and looked like it was built as well as the Hudy. I used it once and sold it immediately.

You pays your money and you gets your truer. I have owned a Ofna Auto and currently have a Hudy. Both do a perfectly acceptable job of truing tires. The only difference I have seen between the two is the Hudy looks about $200 better doing the job.

They are servicable, the housing is robust, the motors beefy and wiring and repairs are quite straight forward. I shimmed the rotor and it's better now and while it's an old trusty, and doesnt like being pushed hard, the reliability and quality is hard to beat.

I got a used 3Racing auto truer, and bought a GQ carbide bit for it, trues tyres as well as any other brand of truer I have used, can't fault it.
$200 for the truer, $35 for the cutting bit, I'd say the bit is of more value than the truer, in part because a good sharp bit greatly reduces the load on the truer, I tested this on a power supply that shows amp draw, so really better bit means less load on your truer, and longer life.
