Thumbs up How to break in your motor, Formula 1 Style Run-in Tuning Program Video.

I figure the Nitro forum would like this.

If you thought your latest nitro powerplant was sweet. Check out this f1 motor run-in tuning program video.

F1 Formula 1 Motor Run-In Tuning Program - Right Click Save As - 16MB

Now that is how your run-in / tune your motor. (notice how it gets up to operating temp, then starts testing itself and running low-rpms I can only picture how my motor would have flamed out 18 times in that test)

Just a little inspiration.

That's just bloody amazing!

That guy right next to the engine has got to be deaf! Everyone else has their ears plugged and he's standing there smiling.

Amazing sound.....

BTW the guy has ear plugs. If you refer to the guy on the right side of the engine. Look closely and you can see the orange thing coming out of his right ear which I believe is the kind of earplugs like doctor's sthetoscope (probably not right spelling..)

Anybody know what kind of fuel they run? Those headers were glowing so brightly...

The rules state regular unleaded fuel, basicaly what you can get at the pump. They prolly have a few more additives that the rules allow.

In theory it should be the same gasoline you can get at the pump, but practically I think it's miles from it. Shell has been developing a special mix for Ferrari for years for example.

But those are some awesome revs....When I was a kid, I went on a tour through the Ferarri Factory. I know, I'm old as hell....they were building the Daytona Coupes, 1965 models as I remember, with their 4.5 litre V12's...they had a row of dyno rooms, and in the one that was running at the time, was one of the production engines going thru its paces...they ran them at 9000 rpms for 48 hrs....then took them apart and tested all the ranges, as long as they passed they went into a car. I think they said they did these tests on every 12th eng. But that engine was just sitting there SCREAMING !, headers glowing red/white hot...it was the most impressive thing I'd ever seen at the time. THe most impressive thing I'd ever seen before that, had been about 30 mins. earlier...at the time, they tested their cars on the open road outside Modena, and as the bus we were on approached the factory, we were about 5 miles away, a Daytona Coupe came by us at at least 150 mph, wide open...at full song...on a 2 lane highway...the bus driver must've seen him come over the hill behind us, I know flashing it's high beams, and he didn't even have time to say, " Una Ferarri!!" before it was by us.
