Thanks!
A lightweight body and wheels will make a tremendous difference. What radio gear are you running? Lipo or Nimh rx pack? Those are all areas that you need to consider.

My car is 2448g ready to race using lw body/wheels and I also have the alu screw set installed. I use Sanwa servos that are 58g each and a 2100mah protek lipo. The legal limit here in the UK is 2400g ready to race so I'm happy with the weight with 76/69 size tyres so there is room to allow for tyre wear over the final.

My 2013 Viper was 2380g, with:
- small Pro light weight tyres,
- Pro LW PF909 Body,
- Futaba S9452 Servo's,
- 1600mAh LiFe battery.
No further options on the car.
With the additional 38g weight under the tank I made it race legal.

My 2014 Viper is 25g heavier, because I now run Sanwa SRG-BRX servo's.

Radio Gear:
2x Sanwa SRG-HV servos
Rx-471 receiver
2300 Protek Lipo
Running all alu pulleys, alu radio bracket, but not the 38 grams center weight.
Normal weight wheels and body.
No body stiffeners yet.

What is the typical weight difference between light/normal weight for wheels / bodies and even alu screws vs normal?

Just wanting to get a flavor for biggest bang for the buck.

Thanks!

I use 600-700 mAh, in a 30 minutes final!

Never mind, just looked it up, that lipo seems to be of a normal weight, so will not make your car much heavier.

The difference between a Protoform normal weight body, and a Pro light weight, is around 50-60 grams.
The difference between normal and light weight wheel I have never check actually...
Also the amount of paint people sometimes spray in there body, doesn't help..... (up to 50 grams more then I spray in them!)

Thats a good point. I also have an xceed 1300Mah lipo pack in my old 966TE. Its bound to be lighter than the protek pack....

M7H do you adopt a voltage regulator when using sanwa srg servos together with lipo?

Great info M7H!
I should be receiving some light weight wheels shortly. Will report the difference in weight.
Ya, the Protek 2300 is 87 grams, approx 7 grams heavier than the average life. Then again, if one is a stickler with weight, then this could be everything. For me, this pack has been quite handy. Last race I attended I never had a chance to recharge (marshalling didn't help) from a standard qual to a 20 min race, only to find out that I was bumper to the next 1 hr main...yikes!! This pack came in very handy that day. Verified, that I used up approx 1700mah, which would have drained any life...

Flygio, depends which srg servo, some are high voltage, thus not requiring voltage regulation, e.g. SRG-HV

I don't use LiPo, I use a LiFe receiver battery.

better late than never. I just ordered my 977WC from Chicky at serpent America and I got ants in my pants waiting for it to get here. Time to put the 966TE to rest, we had great times.
