I just picked up my 977 last week and I'm excited to join 1/8 nitro

Just wondering why some people would cut out holes in the front bumper? What effect does have?

Yeah everyone says that but does it increase or decrease front down force?

Nobody has actually said which way it goes everyone just says "it changes the down force".

Not tried it myself as it's not a feature on the Shepherd Car..

I was just about to ask the same thing!

I assume because people actually DO cut the holes, then it should increase downforce? Any drawbacks (other than a bumper with holes)?

Is there a limit to how many holes one can cut? It appears most just cut out the leftmost and rightmost holes

Nonsense. Cutting a hole in soft plastic is not that difficult and can be done on any bumper.

It lowers the downforce. Think about it, the holes allow more air underneath the car, into the shell, therefore creating lift.

Sorry for my ignorance as I'm new to 1/8 onroad, but why would anyone want to lower downforce? Isn't it better to have higher downforce to increase traction on the front, say for cornering purposes?

I note that Pietsch's Mugen has the holes cut in the bumper whereas it seems that Salven and Morganti don't have the holes cut in their bumper

I guess I'll just have to buy another bumper and cut the holes and try for myself the difference between the two...

Can't wait to get my 977 on the road (building it as we speak)

I remember there was a video of 977TE introduction, it.was in Miami, Homesteads. In the video, Salven says when you cut the hole it gives more turn-in, and the shapes are made by very thin material, it's easy to cut it. I see some European Driver they cut the holes when it's a technical track. Anyway, it's depends on your driving style. I also got my Viper 977, my friend says the car was sooooo fast with 35-plus tuned NOVAROSSI engine. Caution:Serpent Viper is a dangerous snake, it could bite you!!! LOL

Mostly you could only cut two holes, like MRX5,RX8,966TE,977.

Is there or will there be any electric conversion kit for this car ?
Is the 966e conversion kit suitable ?

Just got a 977 last week. Can anyone tell me how to use the inner hole with the rear ball link? It seems the brake bracket is blocking it. Thx.

It is... but when you eventually bolt everything on, there is only a slight bind. What i did was shave some of the material off.

Small design fault here. No big deal.

Thx for the answer. Another question. I cannot find the spacers for the front lower suspension arms, do they come with the kit? What is the part #for them
? I cannot find it in serpent website. Also the front upper suspension arms are tight with spacers, do i need to send it down? Thx
