Just wondering

Is it possible to turn a off road buggy into a on road car. Someone at the track was telling me he was told you could but he wasn't for shure. If so would it be cheaper to just buy a on road car.

yes you can convert that is the gt class but you maybe able to find a good used car for less money depending on track size a 2 speed is a good idea then lowering car gt body and tires of course front bumper it also depends on what you have fro a buggie and what is available to make work and how much modifying you have to do

guys at my local track used to do this years ago before there were 1/8 scale gt cars. most would start off with an ofna mbxr2 buggy kit as it was cheap, had a flat chassis (no kickup) and good amount of hop ups. most went with a 2 speed, front shocks on the back, swaybars, and foam tires. at that time there wernt any 1/8 scale bodies that fit, so guys ran 1/10 scale pickup bodies slammed way down on the chassis and they were run as an open wheel. pretty cool when you have a dozen of them blasting around the track.

Depending on what kind of car you have and how carefully you shop, you can do it pretty cheaply (at least in comparison to buying an entire new car.) You're basically looking at tires, short wheel extensions, a front foam bumper kit, and that's about it for most stuff. Two speed is nice but I've seen racers do quite well with single speed. My friend did exactly that with his offroad and it's the fastest GT I've ever seen or driven. I highly recommend the McLaren body (about 60 bucks on Ebay) and the rest of the parts you need can be found on Ebay as well.
