you probably like being tea-bagged don't you? you like the mule slapping you around a little...admit it. If you can read it looks as if D.R. has given him permission...last time I checked I did not see a patent for what D.R. does? So if he wants to copy it and mod it the way he likes let him. Stop being a tool.
I think that it is good that he is doing it. I know there are others that do this. I have heard about 4 or 5 people doing mods... a couple have already posted in this forum. Go to the track and see what his engines do. There is only so many wasy to mod a engine for great performance. I am sure if DR gets back into racing and does engines then everyone will flock back to him but since he is out then we need more people like this guy to step up and do some of these mods. I could copy DR too but I don't have the tools and I am sure I am missing half the little things that "the naked eye" cannot see that makes differences.

NitroRacer you are the tool, not don't have the tools. People like Smells is the reason Dennis isn't doing motors for the public right now. You think taking somebody elses 20 years of R & D and selling it is cool then you are a loser. I think you picked youscreen name off of a HPI box.

Tennesse,
It sounds to me more like you have a personal problem! For the most part, we are all trying to have fun with this HOBBY. That is all it is to most of us. I for one am a novice. I got in to this because it seemed to be a nice getaway from work stress etc. If you are reflection of how people are in this industry, I better start looking fort a new hobby. Is it your life long goal to talk smack over an R/C car forum? If it is, I hope you feel real good.

I would think that if Dennis stayed in and kept doing his engines then people would come to him for them. If I had a choice beteween Dennis,Smeltz,J_Tec, JP, and another one.. i forget who does them, I would buy from Dennis because he knows what he is doing and word of mouth. Dennis said a while ago that he was stopping what he was doing and if it was becasue of the Paris Guy then Dennis should have come on here and let everyone know that this guy tried to do that. One of the Engine guys that I know combined Dennis, and some of JP's stuff into one engine and it runs pretty good...better then all the stock off the shelf engines but it will not beat a RTU. It barley beats a JP but still it does. He sells his service basically charging for the labor but he doesn't do it to the masses. If I go to a nationals next year then my first choice will be to buy or borrow a RTU from someone at my track. If I can't get one and need some power where will I go for it? I can buy a JP or J-Tec, or Smeltz.

BY the way.. don't get me wrong. Dennis is a great guy and he knows what he is doing. It is really sad that he is giving up engines because people want to copy him. The best that I could say is that if a company started doing what he did then he could easily prove that it is his idea... which in this case he did but I guess that is what happens in the real world. It is really sad. It would be like trinity or someone getting ahold of his engines and the next thing you know Ernie is mass producing them. No one needs that.

Before you get the wrong impression "hks"
This has nothing to do with you or anyone else except "smeltz"
And as far as the hobby , what smeltz claims to have done with his motor is so far fetched that it could possibly confuse someone as far as trying to find a motor to run in they're car
I mean lets face it he bought a motor and then claimed that he did all the mods that someone else did Now i don't know what you would call it but i call it stealing & lying
I think an appology is in order or at least an admittance to what you did
oh by the way hks i"ll help you or anybody else who has any qeuestions about the hobby the best way i can
i have 10+yrs in on road & off road r/c 1/8-1/10

Not Mad Tennessee .
I listen to much Talk Radio. Answer me this... who do we go to now for engines when we need some serious power?

Tennesse,
I appreciate the offer. Coming from someone with 10+ years experience could only be a plus. But, are you asking me to appologize?
As far as my Smeltz motor is concerned, I received the exact same motor that I sent to him. I know because mine had a small scratch on the head that is still there. You can't tell me that Smeltz would have time to send it out to D.R., have it modified, sent back to Smeltz and shipped back to me in 4 days? That's pretty good. Would you like to take apart my motor to check out the work? Maybe I should let you drive my car and you let me know what you think?

Great! Do you have a rough date on when you will be modifying and releasing the new Sirio SP12TRP engine and the Rossi Pixie-Black engine? I currently use a Picco .12 and it has a threaded crankshaft, which does not permit me to use a centax clutch, so I want to buy a modified version of these engines (with a SG crankshaft) ASAP.
