I have seen a rash of small cranks breaking through the crank window and the upper half of the crank pin. The former is a recent phenemenon and the latter rears its ugly head from time to time.
The NS models have had no issues I am aware of.

Has anyone seen or heard anything out of Matt?

Curious if he is ok. He had some health issues last year.

He has to have some friends that raced and have some clue of what is going on

Yes interesting point, I have never heard of a V12 RB or NS fail on the crank as yet, but the do seem to chew through rods big time.

Its a nova crank issue especially on the small ones, you just cant get away with that much material loss on those areas. been there done that.

Looks to me as if he deepened the existing cuts a bit and my guess is that the additional cut un the right top was the neck breaker.

thats why I don't go there anymore, on top of the fact I neted a zero gain with that type third cut.

Actually, that 3 cut design looks a lot like the crakshaft of the factory modded STS RS3 engine that I have. No problems as far as I can tell.
