Lassis, how do you like the Stratus 3.1 body? I like it quite a bit. Way better than the Mazda 6.

Mine was from the first batch too. It was a Hong Kong kit though. Maybe that makes a difference.

I hear that guys are saying that the clutch bell is hitting the second gear. Looking at mine it has 3mm clearance between the two of them. How much clearance does yours have? The clutch is closer to the second speed clutch bell but not the gear it self.

Thumbs up

When I built my car, the sway bar was rubbing ontop of the 2 speed housing. It would only happen when all the weight was up front or when the rear tires were in the air from picking my car up. But I took care of that problem back then and I was still striping 2nd. i'm just glade that I don't have to deal with it anymore. Now I can concentrate on my driving without worrying if my gears are going to go. I think the 1 piece engine mount helped sum. I also think using a good tool helped a lot including a real tight gear mesh.

The reason why the rear swaybar is rubbing against the 2 speed housing is because your droop (rebound stop) is not adjusted. Mine did the same thing and when I set my rebound stop to 5.0mm (stock reccomended set-up), it cleared with no problems.

You can buy alluminium upper engine brace ( the bar that connects rear bulkhead to radio plate tower ) and one piece engine mounting by 3racing.

Some early version kit might have problem with front bulkhead not matching the contour of chassis ( need filing on lower hinge pin area at the 90 degree section ). You need to try first, if you can't screw properly then you must stop. You need to to see the hole and determined where to file.

I suggest to replace all sort of 3x8mm screws with 3x10mm screws and 3x10mm screws with 3x12mm screws. Longer screws make your car stiffer, stronger, and heavier ( but your car will be at ROAR minimum legal weight ).

It really does not have anything to do with tight gear mesh or a one piece engine mount. Although the one piece engine mount is sweet. It was actually mentioned early on in this thread, but it is a very good truthful fact. Your engine must be near perfect to perpendicular to the gears. Keep the split between 4, 5 or 6 and it should be fine. Anything more and you are taking risk at losing the second gear. If your engine alignment is near perpendicular line to the gears without any odd angles, you will not have a striping problem.
