I do have an LS3 as one of my engines. Even though it is supposed to be less torquey than the LL I did end up gearing it taller at the last race here in Vegas. Of course with the way our track is layed out, we have a big full power sweeper that leads onto the straight and a big sweeper at the end so I needed more gear for it. At a track with a shorter straight I would probably use the stock gearing.

Hi,
I have stripped 2 2nd gear due to the bearing came out of the 2nd gear housing and caused the 2nd gear touch the 1st gear. Because of this the 2nd gear stripped. A few drops of glue solved my problem. This could be your problem.

thanks scott.......

the tracks we use to race here have straights with 50m os more........I'll try the 24t pinion...........another question, if I change the 2nd speed without modifications on the 1st speed, it can cause some bog when shifting 1st/2nd speed? i'm asking that because the ratios are way different even with stock settings (7.6 and 5.0, the difference is smaller for most of the cars)

Great, glad to hear that. As you need to adjust keep these thoughts in mind.

Over time your clutch shoe will wear down and this will increase your gap meaning you may need to remove a shim on the crankshaft. When you do this, you may need to add one on the outside. If you want more launch off the line you can tighten the spring adjuster, but I have found that when it is tighter than 9.75mm it doesn't work right and I would instead try to increase the gap by adding another shim on the crankshaft.

All of this adjusting of course depends on the grip level and the engine you have.

Thumbs up

Hey Scott, thanks for the info also. I think the one-peice engine mount will do the trick as well. This car is amazing. To me it seems like it has the durability of a 1/8th scale.

Be careful with 1pc engine mounts since not all motors do have the same mounting distance. I measured up to 1.0mm difference between different brands!!!
You can imagine the stress on the crankcase if the holes of the engine do not line up properly with the holes in the 1pc engine mount!

Thanks for the tip. All of my engines are novarossi based engines and they have fit with no problem. I have not tried Picco or OS based as of yet. I still have the stock prospec 2 pc mounts if I run into an issue like you describe.

Red face

Well I hope the OS TZ lines up with the one-peice engine mount. Anybody running this motor with the one-peice engine mount?

I have only been using the stock clutch shoe (gray). What color is the H0707 shoe? What is the differance in the two performance wise? When do you run the one vs the other? Small technical tracks or big track need one more then the other?

H0707 is the black shoe. The colours are usually related to slip. I've tried grey and the yellow. If grip is good, grey all the way. If the grip is not, yellow is nice as it allows a little slip. Letting the clutch slip a bit you can reduce wheel spin as some of the engine's energy

Anyone try black? Is it harder or softer than the grey?
