Default Glow plugs

What is a good glow plug to use in the GS-15 in warm weather?
I currently use an OS no:8 and found these to be very reliable has any one used an OS A5 plug?

OS 8 is great.why change when u urself find it to be great?

I had my 1st full run today, and i find the v1s is better than my previous car!
2 speed was shifting fine!
pretty soon i'll have to do 'the mod' to my 2nd gear

Hank
A5 = too cold
A3 = same as os8 but a cheaper plug (designed for run in)

Default Sudden loss of power out of GS15R engine

I was very happy with the performance of my standard engine out of the V-one-S up till now, but I ran the car on the weekend and she go slow. There also appears to be a reduction in compression when I turn it over with the pull cord. The engine was running fine when I last used it a week or two ago and now it just doesn't seem to rev as hard as it used to. The engine seems to be running a lot richer both top and bottom end even though I haven't changed the needle settings. I expect the needle settings to vary a little with conditions but this was a big change. The glow plug is a new O.S. No 8 and hasn't burn't out.
Just woundering if any people out there with a lot more experience then me have experienced anything like this or if it reminds you of something you have experienced in the past.

Thanks Dishy.

You should have done it before you used the 2 speed. I'd imagine it would be harder to do now

Dishy, Check that your main needle hasn't moved. Mine continuesly moved and i was baffeled at what was going on until i realised it and made it stay

yeah that's true, but i wanted to see for myself the extent of the damage...and getting a drill is not easy for me(at the moment)..
anyone got someother ways to mod the 2nd speed?i don't think the 'Sola version' is all that great(no disrespect to the person!) as the pin is there all by itself, only held on by glue
i tried (unsuccesfully) to use thin tin foil to cover the 'contact area' but it makes the inner diameter just a little to small to fit into the hub.
i'm still trying and if it works i'd surely pass on the recipe...

Trust me, the "Sola version" works well if you do it properly!, we did a lot of experimenting with different ways to stop the thing wearing out, this works the best.
If you can't get a drill bit try using a drive pin (like the ones that fit behind your pulleys)
Otherwise send me a gear and I'll modify it for you.

Have a look at this picture, it's clearer than the one on my website.

Dishy

Don't worry about the engine having little compression, in some of my best motors I can push the piston straight through the sleeve, and although it feels like there's no comp, as the motor gets to operating temperature the comp increases.
if you reckon it's running rich, lean it off a bit and see what happens?

How's the air filter?

I guess you guys are saying don't worry, but my major concern is it was so sudden one day it was flying the next there was a major loss in power.
SP Racer
The air filter is fine, gets a regular clean every couple of runs. I know leaning the engine out will improve performance if the engine is running rich but should the fuel mix change dramatically without the needle moving? I am worried there is something else going on here.
sausage_link
The needle hasn't moved at all that was one of the first things I checked. It is exactly where it always was.

Sp Racer, thank you very much for the offer...i already have drill and pin, will be doing the mod soon.

Does anyone here used or tried out the O.S .12 TR engine? If so what is your opinion about it.

I got one in my RR Evo at the moment ! It's easy to tune and wouldn't be overcapatilising in a V-One S. Sure there's more powerful engines but it'd be spot on for a V-One S !

I was thinking about the 3 port because I don't want run in open. Ive heard both the 3 and 5 port versions and they sound great.
