I know people who have played with these kind of ideas in the past, and so to say but they dont work very well. A similar design was done by an old friend and he lost control of the car due to lack of range.

For an antenna to work at its full potential it must be fully extended. as an example, when your in a car and listening to the radio, is the antenna extended or down? There is one thing you can do that does work but still not as good as it being fully extended is to use the following "ladder" design (see attachment)
This keeps the wire in the body and still gives good range.

That is pretty standard practice on the 1/12 cars, It all works on line of sight in theory therefore the higher the antenna the better reception.......However with modern radio systems and the size of the average track it should not be an issue.

Nothing is stupid until proven so. It was a good idea, believe me - i thought of doing it too! Just do go jumping to conclusions until you test it and prove it works. (ive been nabbed in the past )

anyway, keep the ideas flowing!.


btw, im in the process of building an onboard fuel gauge but with a difference........it transmits a signal to a hand piece (which could be small enough to install inside transmitter (maybe) or attach to the side or leave it with your pit man) with a low fuel light. Its an idea ive been working on for awhile, they are a few on the market but mine will be simple, tiny and best of all - CHEAP!

i'll post up my progress soon.

Ill let you in a secret.........sprinkle the antenna wire with baby powder or talc before you try to thread it in.......It will go in easier than(well you get the picture)

I'll try that! I usually use some type of thin oil like Castrol Handy Oil.

Thats right its not in the middle , but with the carbon top plate it is closer to the middle.

how are you making the sensor.... i was thinking that you might use probes... but then i thought is it wise to send a current thru nitro?

and with the fuel sloshing around how will u get a accurate read out?
