It may not be your idle screw that has the problem in it, it could be your low speed needle not being set right.
If you try adjusting your low speed it should help drop the revs a bit, i think if you richen it will lower the revs a bit, try that.
you may when richening have to open the idle up a bit higher if they get low enough.
But as long as the car is not moving when idling, is there a problem? you have less chance of stalling when sitting on the grid.
where is your low speed currently set at? (Aprox mills from the turny thing, i cant think at the moment of its name) (*I said mills cause each time we mention how many turns from close we get in truble of "Almighty Squiz" ^^^Just kidden Squiz^^^*)
But yeah, i run in turns my self on low speed.

I did try richening the low-end and it dropped the revs, but it accelerates slower so I'm not having any of that ! I'll have to find a happy medium.
I think it's mostly related to the bubbles i'm getting in my fuel line. Yes it is a new piece of fuel line ! I'll have to try Sp Racer's trick that's on his website, but the front screw hole of the tank is roo-ted (threaded)!
Other than that I'm happy with how it's going.

is it all bubbled when entering the carb?
have u done the o-ring trick with the tank.
and is your fuel line anywhere near your motor, exspecially the head?
if it is, MOVE IT, as u r evaporating fuel.

Hmm
have u done the air leak test trick?
disconnect the fuel and pressure lines from the car, remove the tank as well.
leaving fuel and pressure lines attach to the tank, crimp over one of the lines, preferably fuel, and blow into your pressure line while holding most of it under water
(Make sure the tank is empty)
If you see bubbles coming out, u have an air leak.
exspecially if u have bubbles in the line i'd do that trick,
and is your high speed a bit on the rich or lean side at all?

also, you could just try loosening the screw that is fu(ed until u get a new one, it will just hold it a bit looser so as not to shake it as violent as the car shakes.
Also, when u have the car just sitting still, before u even drive it, is there bubbles in the fuel line, because this would say a air leak, as thats where your idling prob would be is the bubbles.

v-one s racer it could be the collars on the carburettor linkage that is making your idle really high
mine did that and i just set the collars a bit further back it fixed it

An 18 small block is only gonna be a piece of crap yokomo or something so why waste your time?
On the subject of 12 small blocks however you have.
OS, Novarossi, Picco, Sirio and all those other yummy brandhoose from. Prices start at about $300.00 and go all the way to the $5-600.00 mark.
My personal choice in a pullstart .12 would be the Novarossi CX12PS2 ....1hp and infinitely tuneable.
