Who has converted an Xray buggy to GT?
I would love to create an Xray 1/8 GT car from an 808 or XB9 buggy. Has anyone out there had any experience doing this? Any information you could share? Pics?
Thanks in advance for any help or links you might have, -Adam |
Jedi,
I believe Leon (*1speedy) had done this conversion with his xray and has produced podium results. I would advice you get in touch with him as far as the process and the parts needed to get it done. He is a great guy and a great mechanic. good luck and keep us posted! |
2011 XB808 Spec GT
Thanks for the props Chris;) See you at Floyd one of these weekends:nod:
Here are a few pictures of my creation. The 2 Speed I fabricated over some time and fits with no mods except for enlargeing the chassis hole. I just sent the 2 speed to be hardened so I dont have any pictures as of today sorry:sneaky::D Fuel tank is from the Serpent Truggy / Bumper is a modded Losi bumper there are alot of other changes its not a bolt on conversion. The chassis in my picture is the oem chassis but Bill at BCE made one for me with the specs I needed & it came out very nice :) I will put some pictures out another day. There is a rally conversion in Europe thats very popular here is a link. I like mine much better;) http://www.casadelmodellismo.com/xra...sion-p-33.html Xray Quality is IMO Second to NONE and I will never go back to the other GT's We raced with a single speed and a suspension that was still in R & D and we were very competitive so this summer looks to be fun when we have time to get to the track. Here are a few pictures / Please Enjoy http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/v...601_005517.jpg http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/v...601_005524.jpg http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/v...w/IMG_2316.jpg http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/v...w/IMG_2402.jpg |
XRAY XB808 2011 GT8 2 Speed
For all those who have asked for some Pictures of my 2 Speed here it is installed.
All my parts came back from being hardened today:) The Shaft and ends I had Fabbed to my specs length width shape Etc I glass beaded them and installed them. The 2 Speed fits right in with the OEM Shafts so the center balance is unchanged:) I believe that this Xray GT8 will be extremely competitive and hope we can get out a few times more this year to race. The single speed beat alot of people the 2 speed should be even more Fun:D Enjoy the pictures. Just like to add Xray Quality compared to all the others I have owned is 2nd to None.:) I love this car:tire::sneaky::) http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/v...609_001944.jpg http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/v...609_002403.jpg |

WOW! see? i wasnt lying when i said this guy knows his #$%#$%#$.
I love the way the electronics is situated and I hope this makes it to production. Although Im particular to my GT2, its always nice to see the class growing. Also, as leon and his son gets this further into the podium, im sure xray will take notice and jump right in. They simply cannot deny the growing popularity of the GT class and strive to get a piece of the pie. |
That is a work of art!
did you have to move the engine at all? |

did you have to move the engine at all? its been a labor of love ::D The pinion/spur mesh on the Xray is not straight it’s more of a slight angle:weird: so for the 2 speed I had to elongate the holes for adjustment and straighten out the angle for a good mesh. The 2 prototypes I made I am still running but I have a new chassis that I am going to mill the mounts and make real pretty:cool:. I will post a picture when done:tire::D . |

If the weather is nice we will be there for the race:nod::tire::cool: |
I hope so. I have a product inventory program to code and a web site to design and get up and running.
wors case ill take a break and stop by to say hello |
I've seen that car in action at the Nationals and it's performance is as impressive as it's looks. Cleanest conversion I've ever seen, and Todd drove the wheels off it. Very, very, nice work.

I just completed my conversion with the help of TIX race developments. I'm looking to put it on the track in the spring.

Jmilz glad you finally got it done. Be nice to have another Xray on the track:D
The pictures above were the 2nd Xray I had converted the XB808 since then I did the 2012 and last season we ran the 2013. This is my 2013 we ran last season. http://i691.photobucket.com/albums/v...pse4fdd656.jpg We were fortunate to TQ and win both the ROAR regionals and NY State championship race so I think its safe the Xray has potential:lol: Will have the 2014 model for the new season:sneaky: See you at the races:tire::sneaky: . |
