I just bought a LRP .28. However, I am not sure if the stock clutch bell would fit this engine? Does any one know which two speed bell can fit?
Should i swap clutch set up as well? What are your thoughts?
Thanks

The stock clutch will fit the LRP .28 but I suggest that you consider the Buku 34mm clutch as an upgrade. The BUKU allows you to adjust the clutch engagement by changing the spring tension on each shoe individually. These adjustments are made thru the knurled edge of the flywheel and can be done in the car and do not require the removal engine.

As far as the clutch bell goes, you can use the IG111 that comes with the GT2 or the VS058 with allows the use of Evolva gears.

The IG111 can use the following pinions;
1st - 14t of 15t
2nd - 17t, 18t, 19t, 20t, 21t

The VS058 can use the following pinions;
1st gear (FM540-*) - 15T, 16T, 17T
2nd gear (FM541-*) - 19T, 20T, 21T

In alot of places , adjustable clutches are not allowed in GT so the BUKU would not work.
Best to check your local rules.

BM,

The Buku clutch is a 4 shoe clutch similar to what the Losi clutch is, thus it is legal. It is not a push/Centex style clutch like you might be thinking. In fact, it is almost identical to the Werks 4-shoe clutch except it has some ceramic-type pads on the ends of the shoes that grip the clutchbell better for better engagement.

Did you upgrade yet to the new 2 speed shoe type clutch from the GT2 race spec ? Please do cuz the torque from that LRP.28 will make mince meat of the 2nd gear... FYI... Get the upgrade and the stock race spec clutch set up and you will be fine if you are on a budget ... BUKU is the best out there for someone running at the track on a competitive level ... My .02 cents ...

Hey. Thanks for the info Lee.
Yb2- yes! I have a race spec. I think I will go for the cheaper route and get stock clutch set up, or even just swap from old engine...
I am not driving competitively.

Thanks again, this site is best.

I think the meaning of "adjustable" got lost in translation. It was meant to be "No Centax type" clutch. Any offroad type clutches (2 to 4 shoes) are allowed in the GT8 class. BuKu clutch is definitely legal for the GT8 class as it is an offroad type clutch.

Actually Andy, there was no loss in translation.

“Adjustable” originally meant just that “any adjustable clutch” in the 1St internationally accepted GT racing rules.

I believe the Werks Racing offroad adjustable clutch pre-dates the Buku systems by a few years
and the original “non-adjustable” rule was intended to help keep a more level playing field level during the original GT spec & open classes
during the 2010 Ipanema GTWC International racing event.

There's no doubt the adjustable offroad clutches have an advantage over conventional non- adjustable off road clutch systems.

The use of adjustable offroad clutches, like the Werks & Buku units, became legal within our GT event rules starting the 2012 racing season
after conversations in 2011 with both Ron @ Werks & Dave @ Buku; for their combined company support in helping to grow GT class racing.

No disrespect meant in the history lesson or your statement Andy, just wanted to let you & everyone who reads this to know how they came about and the players involved.
Take care Andy.
