What do you mean by check the backlash?
Backlash means the play between the gear and pinion.

And yes I had new pinion and diff hears so all good there.
It varies. You need to check it and decide for yourself after running it in.

Yes and I don't like it. Harder on the front just generated massive understeer. Going harder rear will just do the opposite and give you massive oversteer. You are better off finding the steering with setup. Even sometimes you need to change your driving style too. The GT car is a very different beast to say a 1/8 foam car or 1/10 TC. You also have to wait several laps for the tires to warm up as well - we have a good 3-4 minutes warm up before a run for this reason and actually do a rolling start. Have you tried the number 1 ackerman bar?

There's no pro brake kit available right? Any brake kit upgrade that anybody uses?

After hearing that the plastic trans mounts were 'melting', I went to the aluminum set on my 1.0 version. Then I was shown the black discs from a LOSI eight 2.0. Wow, how sweet....nicely adjustable for SMOOTH braking. 😎

Use the brakes from the SRX8 buggy they fit right on and is what has replaced the pro kit and is what the team now uses. The Losi brakes won't fit the alu 3.0 centre blocks properly and you don't need to worry about the melting. These will be much better than the Losi setup which are composite discs which don't last very long. Very smooth and don't grab when hot like the old pro-brakes did.

P/N: 600744 - Discs x2
P/N: 600829 - Brake pads x4

Oh and are the pads the same part number as the old pro kit brakes? I have the original pro kit on my old car and could use them on my new kit and simply add the new discs if that's the case.

No the new pads are thicker but yes you can use the old pro brake pads. You just may need some shims on the outer brake pad to reduce the gap a bit as the new pads are thicker and also a different friction material which adds to the smoothness.

How many mm gap do you leave for the pads?

By feel really. I don’t measure it. Just needs to have a little play in the disc. Perhaps 0.5mm.

A couple of pages back in the thread we discussed the 3.1 setup already. Make sure you put the towers and the lower mounts too. Basically harder dampening and springs over 3.0. I run 1000-1200 oil and the 39.5 lb springs all round.
