I finished my long chassis conversion last night and i got it down to 3175 w/o body and 3628 complete, the long chassis bodies are heavy but the car now weighs exactly what my short chassis car weighed. So at least we know the long is not handicapped by weight.
TeamC now has aluminum ball ends, shock post, internal dif shafts and some other tid bits which will shave more weight. i would like to get it down to 3600 with the arm braces so i need to find another 75g.

Complete car with Maclaren body, no fuel! The REDS engines are the lightest on the market, 348g for the M7T!

Just got home from some R+D and shakedown runs on "Tha BEAST"!! car handles sooooo good! Took some vid I am about to start editing and will post up later tonight.
here is the vid of the MP body on track and my first stab at the long chassis, needs some work but i think the potential is there, track is not prepped, very dusty and tires are old so its a bit loose but looks good on video!

Those of you that pre-ordered the bodies; they are in transit and i expect them to be in my hands early next week, i will ship ASAP. THE BODIES ARE NOT IN STOCK!!

How often do you guys check the 3 bolts that hold the 1st & 2nd gear to their respective housings. Every time I check them ther are already at least 1/4 turn loose, on one of my cars that I did not check for quiet some time, the aluminum housings were already damaged...the hole was already oval shaped cause of the play most likely from acceleration and braking

Thats a good catch and could be the reason for damage and for maybe effecting gear mesh and striping.
Do you loctite the screws when you assemble them?

I'm on vacation with the family but will chime in on this tomorrow. Green mixture works good but thin lock nuts work better.

At the NY state championship race. Day 1 during practice GT was running really good, then on my last practice tank diff cases melted. Need to stock up on parts.

Been there done that!! the new gear cases do not do that, they changed the material and you also need to make sure there is a gap in between the cvd and the housing.

The F/R bulkhead for GT8 is the same as what's used for the T8 buggy/truggy platforms, as well as for OFNA's Buggy8.
Marcus is right in that you must leave a small gap between the outer pinion bearing and the center cvd. Otherwise there will be no room for the steel to expand at operating temperature. That causes overheating, which can result in either your cvd set-screw loosening off the pinion, or deformation (melt-down) of the bearing seats in the plastic bulkhead.
Obviously a bad (dragging) bearing could cause overheating too.
