Hey Marcus
Is there any porting done to the IGT8F (R5) or is it just standard engine with a new head?
Cheers

Standard engine, no options.
The new heads are not available yet, pending test results.

What pitch do they use on their gears? (Spur's / Pinions)

Hi! Most people seem to have been really happy with engines capable of high RPMs. I hear great stuff about the Reds 300 $ package. There is also the possibility to run taller gearing, either by using smaller spurs, bigger pinions or both.
I run a rather tall gearing, unless the track is very tight. I use the Novarossi keep-on and the os xzr speed. Both with off road cooling heads...
I know you're asking about engines but I strongly recommend getting an adjustable clutch if you're going to use taller gearing. Also, get the shock towers from RcShox and an extra set of front shocks to put in the back...

So would it make sense to put an off road cooling head on and onroad Virtus engine? I'm running taller gearing on my 1/8 GT as well.

It depends on the motor really, Novarossi motors tend to have a very high temperature tolerance compared to other brands. In hence they can actually run and stay on, when others will die or shut off when running, say 280*.

Best bet is find out what the manufacturer says is the optimal operating temperature for your motor is and shoot for that.

Reds for example are not recommended to run over 220* across the board. (On Road or Off Road)

There are several things that can effect operating temp, (plug, fuel, header, pipe) etc.

It was a very FUN & productive day at the track.
I finally had the chance to fine tune my Pro Car (short) Team C GT8.

I am running the stock "Med" springs with PT RC Racing 1200cst oil all the way around with RcShox dual stage pistons.
Spurs are RcShox 41/46 pinions with stock pinions.
Powered by "Lunatic GT8 Combo" Reds M7WC (Gt Cooling head) with 2104 pipe and Double Bend XS header.

The car has a very basic starting point setup camber/toe/ride height.

Fellas the car is Wicked Fasssssst!!!!!
It has really impressed me 100% the car quality and speed is top notch.
I finally got to test and run it against some Cobras side by side running (Maxys, and Nova motors).

Our track has about a 230' straight after fine tuning the two speed. The car was ripping down the staright and literally smoking the tires in the infield, if I got trigger happy. Severely times I would let a gap develope just to see if I could recover the lead, based on just the speed of my car. Guys I was sucking up the comp ridiculously. At one point I was behind by 20-30feet going into the straight and I seriously caught up and past him going into the sweeper on full power!!

I can say with confidence I had the fastest car out there. Not to mention I'm only at 50% throttle

Def a good test day for the cars, that WC is REALLY fast! FYI earlier we tried the 40t second gear and it took it out of the power band slightly, with the 41 midrange picked up and top end was like a slingshot, the car pulled to the end and was still pulling. The WC is a long stroke engine!.
On my car i settled with the R5/44/41combo for the same reason. 40t with the XS header took it out of the powerband but next time out I am going to try the med header and 40t to see how it feels. As it sits right now i was the exact same speed as the Nova 9ports. I will try the GT V2 engine in a week or so, which should be good!

Now I wish I would've went out there yesterday. Was too busy building my own car though. Looking forward to seeing that WC run Tony. But it sounded wicked with that double bend header!
