Those gears have been out since the beginning, I am still trying to figure out the gear issues you guys are having
I have run just about every combo of engine and have yet to have a gear issue , the 40t second is the smallest spur. In Joliet i had one of the fastest speed wise car out there and i had 45/40 with a REDS 7pt.
No top speed issues here and as you can see the car pulls all the way down!
in this vid i was borrowing a Nova basic sport 7pt and ran 45/40 and as you can see the only car with more speed down the straight was Paolo and even then my car was SUPER rich because i didnt want to hurt it.
IMO if you are having gear or speed issues you are simply not running the right pipe/header combo. remember GT cars are heavy and a 21 really is too small of an engine for the weight. so trying to make a small engine pull via torque is counter productive and you just stress the engine more than it can handle. Pick a mid range pipe and short header (9886 nova, 2069 REDS) and let the engine make power up top where they are designed. I am now running the IGT8F spec REDS engine with 2069/XS double bend header and the car actually felt faster with the 41 than it did with the 40, I cant see even going with a bigger pinion, i will try it but I doubt i will like it.
With that being said the 47/43/13 combo is too much the other way according to Frenchie, he made a file with all of the current gear ratios.
