If you put the option gears on and you are still over reving something is way wrong! swap to anothe engine and see what happens. what engine are you using?

Im a GO Engines factory driver, so i tried GO GXII5RHO .21 + 2072 GO Pipe, and GO .25 6 ports + 2072 GO Pipe. Already won couple international races in southamerica with those engines and DM1S car, so im pretty sure engines are good enough for the class. On .21 (wich is a 5 port), i had to open needles like crazy to not over rev the engine, little less on 6 port .25 but even with that im not happy with my engine over reving at about 3/4 of straight. Same engines back-tested on my old DM1S without any problems.

My friend and Reds national distributor, tested a GTV2 with option gears on 17/21 - 42/44 with a R5 reds engine, and same result ... at about 80% of the straight, the engine is almost throwing the piston out lol ... but low end punch is crazy in all engines, so thats why the theory about the final ratio being too short ...

any ideas ? ...

HMMMMMM i dont get it! I have run Alpha modded 5ports, OS speed ZX-R, Nova basic rally sport 7p, Nova basic5pt onroad , GO 7pt offroad (funny because it actually felt undergeared now that i think about it!!) and now i run my REDS M7T all with with stock pinions and 45/40
This is the Nova kangaroo (it was lean on top at the time)this is 45/41
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJpec_0xqZc
REDS GT: 45/40
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FGcfsdFYq8
basic rally with 45/41
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...qCQlJBI#t=148s

I know these are onroad engines but these were all on a 230' straight.
OK lets do it this way, its all about the numbers! calculate the FDR on your DM1 and lets see exactly where you are at? lets get all the facts done first and go backwards!

I also dont understand what you mean when you say open up the needles to prevent over reving??? if you open up the needles enough to effect the top end you also effect the entire powerband and you will lose power especially up top. in my experience that makes it sound like its overrevving but in reality it just loading up the plug. And having it rich on the bottom will yield more torque and that can also be misleading.

I KNOW the DM-1 is 13/43, GTP is 14/44, Cobra is 13/44 and THINK the Team C is 10/43 and you installed 13/43 gears in it. If you did, then with the same tires and pinion and spur would be similar.

Maybe what you are seeing (or hearing) is the weight difference. I have lightened my DM-1 by over 10% and Know the car accelerates much harder and since it is faster at the start of the straight, it is even faster at the end. I believe the Team C car is closer to the weight of the Cobra than the DM-1.

Thats kinda what i was thinking the TeamC is getting to a top speed quicker and therefore seems like it tops out quicker. numbers dont lie though!

Tabushi, what is the known gear ratio that works with that engine on your DM?

Is the track close to you? My nearest track is a little over two hours away. Makes testing time a little difficult....

Need to see. Maybe shuffle a few things around. Don't have alot of time though.

Hey Marcus,
Let me know if you plan on going to the F1 race in Austin. I'm thinking I'll be there. May not be for the whole weekend... but sometime.
Working on getting tickets and a long leesh from the boss at home
