GTP body 200mm

Iīm in search for a 200mm GTP body. Until now I just found pictures of Serpent GTP and Yokomo GTP both seemes based on the Porsche 962. Anybody know of other GTPīs or know which is the best handling GTP body?
Thank you.

Any LOLA style will be better handling then 962 style...the one that you can see the driver figure.

Saw a picture of a Lola now. I think ítīs not according to our rules so I have to use a GTP.
Any comments on the GTPīs? From the pictures the Yokomo and Serpent GTP look similar is there a difference on the track or a better handling GTP?

V12 12-20-2004 02:40 AM

again I was at the Serpent website and did some more search on bodies. Overall I found now the
Porsche 962 part# 1779, http://www.mytsn.com/products/product.asp?prid=94
the GTP part# 170016 http://www.mytsn.com/products/product.asp?prid=2343
and the Lola part#170015. http://www.mytsn.com/products/product.asp?prid=2271
When you say the 962 is not as good as the Lola do you speak of the 1779 I think. But as the GTP seems basically the same body as the Lola with a roof does this mean the GTP is nearly as good as the Lola or is there also a big difference?

InitialD 12-20-2004 05:48 AM

V12, the Porshe 962 (1779) is actually for 235 mm cars which will not fit correctly on the 200 mm nitro chassis.

The one you should be looking if you're wanting to run GTP bodies would be 170016.

tunerjetta29 12-20-2004 10:15 AM

Ive run both the lola and GTP style bodies, there seems to be a little more rear downforce with the lola, but not much. With minor tweaks in the setup i think the same car can be just as fast with either body. Its like Stratus/Alfa/Mazda6 , they all are slightly different, but all seem to be competative

Solara 12-20-2004 10:30 AM

V12.....if you are asking for the really fine details between the 2, I don't think I can answer that....but I can tell you if you look at all the 1/8th ppl.....you will hardly find anyone will use the 962 type (with the driver's housing) body........almost all of them are using LOLA style (the driver expoded...) type of body.....I think the LOLA type will give a little more downforce on the front (for steering) and the rear are very much the same between the 2........and overall, the LOLA type is better then the 962, but just a very little different.

A lot of ppl cannot stand the old school LOLA look, and 962 is their only alternative.

I have no idea what chassis you are running, when you are running those LOLA 962 type bodies, hopefully you are using the rear butterfly GTP body bridge-mount for the maximum performance with those GTP style bodies.

itīs good to hear that. So I can go for the GTP.

InitialD
at the Serpent website I didnīt find any informations regarding wide on the Porsche 962. But you saved me from buying the wrong body. Thank you. :)

Rookie Solara
Thanks for your informations. This helps me a lot. I think I will go for the Serpent GTP for the first try. I have to check if the Lola fitīs our rules.

Only thing I donīt understand is the butterfly GTP body bridge-mount you mentioned. What is this exactly and why does this work better?

V12....unfortunitely, RACER CHOICE are no longer making 200mm GTP type body, otherwise, that will be your another choice, they are just as good, and running like $15 each.

You just have to be carefull reading about these bodies, they are all 1/10th scale, but you must read their spec and make sure the widest wide is 200mm instead of 235mm..........235mm are for the 1/0th scale Serpent 835 type chassis.

About the GTP rear butterfly mounting bridge, take a look at this link.......

http://www.mytsn.com/products/product.asp?prid=343

With this Bodymount-set rear GTP EV2, the downforce you received from the rear of the LOLA type body (which is a lot more then TC body) will transfer to the REAR UPRIGHTS then to the rear wheels, thats why you will have tons of rear traction with this type of body, and if you have the conversion, it will be even more.....take a look at that LONG BLACK piece of mounting thing at the rear...

http://www.mytsn.com/products/glrima...631&imid=18213

However, if you are just using regular body mount to mount the GTP body, you will still receive the extra downforce from the body, but the downforce will only transfer to the rear bulkhead, then to your suspension, and actually will PRESS DOWN the whole rear bulkhead, then transfer to the rear tires.....the downforce will be greatly reduced........

Thats why all the 1/8th cars are all equipped with this feature...even though they have extra wide tires....but whos going to complaint about the extra traction....?

But that Serpent GTP conversion does not work with any car, it only works with Serpent Impulse, 705, Impact or 835........and the Kyosho V1R series is NOT a really true GTP rear mount cause the links are connected to the rear suspension arms instead of the rear uprights....

So unless you are having serpent cars, I don't think you can mount that on your 200mm........

You can also look on www.speedtechrc.com for lola or gt type bodies for 200mm

Thanks for the detailed informations about the GTP rear butterfly mounting bridge. Now I understand how this works and looks. Iīm just too long out of gas-racing.
But as you say it works with the Serpent cars only.

I know there are 200mm and 235mm cars but regarding the one Serpent Porsche 962 body I just didnīt realized this is a 235mm as no informations on wide was at the Serpent website.

Rapid Roy
I just looked at Speedtechīs shop regarding the 200mm bodies.
Maybe Iīm wrong on this but to me the Frewer GTP and Lola looks to be the same as the ones from Serpent.

Steve also sells the Yokomo GTP I mentioned above. This one looks a little different to me than the Frewer/Serpent GTP and I like it more from an optical view. But until now I didnīt find any comment on the Yokomo on any forum.
