im having problems with breaking in a new 12. engine...the compressions so tight the starterbox wont turn it...iv tryed heating it with a hair dryer...any other advice :S

most blow dryers do not get hot enough. for tight mills you need to get up to almost 200 deg. also try losing the glow plug some then tighting once started.

You may want to try adding a shim or two to loosen the compression just to get it started. Are you using a 14v starter box or a 12v?

Remove GP, A drop of ARO, Crank the engine over with starter box, Reinstall GP one turn loose, install Igniter, Crank engine w/box, When it starts, remove Igniter, and tighten GP. It will get easier when engine is broken in. Maybe a couple of liters.

yeah its a 12v starter box....im thinkin of buying one of those sure start heaters im hoping that will get things going

i thought for sure that my new starter motor was too weak to turn over new motor, even unsoldered motor leads and sent it to service facility....one week later got it back with note 'nothing wrong with starter motor, check alignment of starter wheel and car chassis'. sure enough, starter wheel was contacting chassis pan. good luck....
