Does anyone remember the PRP XR8?

I'm picking up one of these cars tomorrow. It actually used to belong to me many moons ago. I was trying to remember what car it was a clone of. Was it the Mugen or maybe the Evolva? I think I'll be needing clutch parts. Which, if I remember correctly, should be similar to everything else. Any of you guys have one, or maybe some leftover parts?

I have the Protech VXR8 version. A lot of parts looks Mugen to me, for sure the Mugen clutch and shockes are a direct fit. The only problem is that it uses OS1 rims, the old Serpent size. Today all is OS2.

Ah, so I won't be able to find any wheels/tires for it at all?

The OS1 tires will be slowly fading out, for sure fresh tires I think. You can try to find out if parts of the current EDAM car will fit, I believe the latest version can fit OS2 rims.

Cool, thank you for the help. It seems this old car is pretty much obsolete. That's ok, there's no real 8th scale on road going on around here. Our on road program shut down about 5 years ago, and only recently got started again. I'm happy to be back on the asphalt, even I'd it's pretty much all 10th scale now.

almost all Mugen mrx 4 parts are very similar. And Edam do have a conversion kit so you can run os2 rims. I have one sitting on my table now.

Awesome! The last time I drove the car I had a pretty decent setup on it. The track record held by a 10th scale was around 17.5 seconds. The laps I was pulling with this thing were around 2 seconds faster. I'm really glad I got it back and I'm stoked I can still drive it. If anyone else has any helpful info Id really appreciate it. Thanks guys!

powers racing...

Some hobby shops may have NOS For the XR8-don't get discouraged , just ask your lhs(s) . The reason this and a handful of other 1/8 cars came to the US market was supply-and-demand[Serpent/Mugen /& Kyosho cars were "podium" finishers with challengers attempting to un-seat them -GS Racing had the Sonic 1/8th car>Good luck.
