I WANT TOP SPEED! I'm Confused?!
Hey guys i own a yokomo GT4. I've read around about pinions and gears but still confused cause i've been reading mixed anwers and need some answers.
So If i wanted top speed the best gearing combo would be Highest pinion and smallest spur gear is this correct? Would this apply to both 1st gear and second gear? And if i wanted bottom end it would be the other way around? Thanks

Top Speed
Spot on, just remember not to gear it too tall.

Is 16/47 and 20/44 ok?
Also another question with the yokomo response pulley kit which is 26T front pulley, 16T rear side pulley, and 18T drive pulley would this cause less top speed? Would it be better to remove the response pulley kit to 23T front pulley, 19T rear side pulley, and 23T drive pulley to obtain more top seed? Any pros and cons or anything i should be aware about of changing pulleys, pinions, and spur? and what do you mean not to tall? Sorry I've only been in this hobbie for about 3 months now. Still learning.
I know that for track its better to have bottom end but i just want to see the top speed for my RC. I have 2 rear suspension so i can swap it out for track and parking lot bashing.

Your pinion teeth difference is 4 but your spur teeth difference is only 3.
They will mesh better if you maintain the same teeth difference.

Oh I get it. Alrighty thanks. Do you know the answer to the other question i asked about the response pulley set?

Unless you are running different diameter front/rear tires,I would stay with the standard to maintain equal traction on all 4 corners,
and adjust the pinion/spur configeration to obtain your top speed
and adjust the pinion/spur configeration to obtain your top speed

edit: NVM i found the answer. Thanks for all your help!

That pulley set is meant for short tracks, and changes the internal drive ratio from 2.000 to 2.555 for greatly improved acceleration. However your top end speed will now be greatly reduced, so use the stock pulley set for more top end speed.
