What's the benefits using a front solid spool instead of a gear diff with #50.000 oil?

Default 2 Speed Clutch and 2nd Gear problem :(

When building my RRR WC edition:
- I noticed the 2 speed clutch was getting stuck in the 2nd Gear when turning it in circles (it would get stuck in the same spot all the time). The screws are tight all the way and unscrewed 3 times as per the instructions but it also happened with it screwed all the way in
- I noticed the hole for the hex screw to go into was really small (couldnt fit my hex screw in) and the plastic was sticking out on the inside
- I had to use a razor to make the hole bigger from the outside and shave the inside to make it smooth (inline with the metal ring) but this didnt resolve the problem.
- I have to make the clutch shoes more round and it seemed like this was the issue. After making it rounder (I noticed they are not perfect circles) it was turning nicely (off we go to break in - YAY!!!)
- After 3 tank fulls the car wasnt changing gears anymore and the motor was stressing to get higher RPMs I noticed the gears would spin forwards but not backwards (it would get stuck)
- After pulling the 2nd Gear out I noticed the clutch shoes were getting stuck in the gear again!!!!!
- I ordered brand new shoes and 2nd gear from RC-Mushroon, this time the second gear looked a lot better than the one that came from the kit (i.e. hole was big and inside was really smooth) but the new clutch shoes has the exact same issue, they were getting stuck in the new 2nd Gear
- What can i do??? should I shave down the clutch shoes more? What are the chances of 2 clutch shoes having the same issue?

kyoshokid..

i think u might be assembling the 2speed clutch wrongly, try reassembling your 2speed clutch according to the manual...
and as for the 2nd speed housing YES it touches a bit with the 2speed shoe...mine also touches but after a few runs it no longer touches...there is no need to shave anything.

rcabj...

There is only 1 way the shoes fit (they face opposite ends and slide in, make sense??) and they are getting stuck even without the screws, collars and springs in. I placed the new shoes inside the new 2nd gear and turned it with my fingers (without the screws, springs, collars) and it still got stuck.

With my old 2nd gear and shoes, I rang in for 3 more tanks after it stoped working but it was stuck constantly, it never loosened.

I'll give the new shoes and 2nd gear a try, hopefully it will loosen up this time round.

Kyoshokid,

2nd speed clutch stucking up with the 2nd gear occurs randomly to the kits. As for me, i had that problem. It would get stuck at one part as you rotate it. i simply sanded off the part that keeps getting stuck and made sure that the clucth can freely rotate. i never had any problems ever since.

Ya i agree wif fritzD i did the same for my 2nd spd clutch i notice a spot which had a 'marked' by the 2nd spd clutch onto the 2nd gear i sand off that area (on the 2nd spd clutch not the gear) and its free to move now
