Default What kind of car is this and can I race it competitively?

It belongs to a friend of mine that bought it second hand but unused a few years ago. I could probably pick it up fir a reasonable price. Any info appreciated.

Well, I got the car on a trial basis and started to go through it. It's evident that it had been run before (knackered spur gear) and probably wasn't assemble by a seasoned kit builder (lots of loose stuff & a leaking front shock). After cleaning it and addressing some glaring issues (radio gear wiring spaghetti) it seems to be ready for a test run on dry rotted tires and all . The only problem is that I don't have a starter box. I'm in the process of calling several R/C guys that I know to see if they have one I can borrow. Stay tuned.

I have one just like that sitting in parts in the garage.

Does it have the sliding rod steering? If so you'll need to upgrade it to the swing rack steering with bell cranks.

I believe some parts are compatible with the early Kyosho V One Rs like the diffs, and pulleys and belts. Not sure if the arms and hubs are. The wheel hexes are the same as the V-Ones / Trinity Reflex. Also all the RD Logics Mongoose parts will work.

There were many changes to that car throughout its development. Many parts on the later versions of the G4 may look compatible but are not with your car which is the earliest of all the G4's.
