We just recieved the new Mega engine catalog and prices sheet from Serpent USA, and both of their 3.5cc motors (Sport and Race MS) should sell in the LHS's for under $300.

We had some hopups on display at the Chicago show for the XR/8, too. Pictures below of the rear sway bar mount, front layshaft mount, radio tray mount, and front sway bar mounts (lotsa mounts!). All aluminum parts on the car, whether stock or upgrade, are made of of 7075 aluminum (the stock clutch bell is also 7075!). What's not pictured is the carbon fiber battery tray. All these parts will be available at the same time the kit comes out...hopefully in two weeks. More pictures at www.happytimehobby.com/cars/xr8/index.html

The RTR version of the XR/8 will be available in early December, and it's dubbed the "XR/80"...for 80mph. The chassis will be slightly tuned down to make it more affordable (only changes so far include: aluminum upper deck and shock towers, 3-shoe clutch, 6061 stamped chassis) but easily upgradeable to full pro kit spec. A .27 with a quick-starter will be included.

Street price for the XR/8 kit will be around US$399, and the XR/80 RTR will be around US$359. Hopefully we'll get some new blood into my favorite class of racing.

Look for a new team at the Winternats in 2005!

They're on the slow boat from Taiwan and should be here by the end of November. Can't wait to race it myself. We have a clean "picture car" that has to collect dust until we get the kits!

Still on the slow boat, but we're expecting them to get here after clearing customs by the middle of next week.
