just to let you know there is no skill required to go fast in a straight line anybody can do that If you just want to go fast in a straight line and not spend alot of money go for a traxxas nitro 4tec they do 60+mph out of the box. as for the s710 and the mtx-3 they are really good at the track where most of the time there is only one long straight away. Other than the glow plug and wrench you will need a motor a good one runs you about $300+ JP FX, NovaMega MS, NovaMax MF, Novarossi ns12s3, RB Concepts Rody Roem tuned etc etc you will also need good servos im thinking $200+ for a fast steering servo and a good throttle and brake servo. Good radio equipment the Ko Propo EX-10 Helios, Airtronics M8, Futaba 3PK starter box I think thats it

Yes... you have to build the 710. Serpent has IMO the best manual out there for building kits everything is cad illustrated and in color the instructions are very easy to follow just take your time and make sure nothing binds on the car when you start building it.
