Just want to share my experience in putting one of these beasts together.
I built one RX-8 for a friend and it was one of the first protos not the final product.
I have built and driven Mugen MRX-4, Motonica P8.0R P81 and nowadays Serpent 966, and all I can say the RX-8 was by far the best car to put together Mugen is very good but the XRay you just say.....WOW!!!
The quality of everything is unquestionable in my opinion.
It was a car that I really had fun building it and believe me youīre going to have fun and enjoying build it.
When you start to see the car to have shape one of the first things I liked was how free the suspension arms were and how everything is free.
Xray did not lie when then said its the most free drivetrain in the market....its really true.
The way you can put the radio plate with flex or no flex at all is really simple.
Now the things I didnīt like so much:
The pulley on the middle that goes to the front belt itīs secured with a e-ring and itīs not very accessible but I can live with that
Other thing is how the engine is secured I prefer the old school way being able to set myself the gear mesh, maybe a future adjustable engine mount.
And last just for the looks was the screws in the radio plate not being countersunk and you end with a lot of round heads on the radio plate....but there must be a reason for the use of those type of screws.
Just wanted to share with you my experience if youīre in doubt in getting one of these just go all the way you wonīt regret a thing.
I have a 966 and soon will be getting a RX-8 without a doubt.
Oh! sorry for my english
