plastic tip tweezers or sometimes a floss pick will work.

Small needle nose pliers. I'll see if I can find a link to mine.

A small zip tie will work and not mar (damage) the rod coming out

This is what I use but I did NOT pay this much for them. Man the prices have jumped. I think I paid $18 off the truck for them.

Check around the local hardware store. You should be able to find something similar for a lot less money.

Wait, are you talking about the clip or getting the pin itself out.

captian 10-14-2010 02:54 PM

Is he talking about the clips electronic needle nose pliers will work

Got some $2 needle nose pliers and dremmeled them down to a fine point and gets them out no problems.
Tip # Do it in a plastic bag so if it does decide to flick you will catch it

To get the wrist pin out I put my allen drive into the hollow end and tap it out

DJ_Shakespear 10-14-2010 05:30 PM

OK, all the above works, but some are weird to me!
Yes, use very thin needle-nose pliers, and you would be better off doing it in a plastic bag so it doesn't fly off on you. You could use a needle or something thin, but you can't grab the clip for obvious reasons.
To get the piston pin out, just poke something in there that is small enough to only touch the pin, and push it out slowly. Once the pin is sticking out far enough, either use a pair of pliers to grab it out, but cover the pin with a tough cloth or a bit of rubber so you don't damage the pin. Very inexpensive and you definitely don't need anything special, just tools from the shed. Just don't do anything dumb to become the biggest tool there :D

if you use anything metal try not to scratch the piston!
dont worry about losing the clip, you dont want to re-use it.

You also want to change the wrist pin, the reason it is so hard to get out is because it has warped under the stress.

Some ppl also remove them in a plastic zip lock to prevent losing them when they spring out!

to remove : use a pointing tweezwer to flick out the C clip.

to install : use broken toothpick, use toothpick"s flat spot to push in the C clip back into the hole.
