A lot of things add up when trying to pick the best possible tire shore for any specific performance application. Since you're asking about "Drag" racing here are a few things to consider:
Actual race track length, are you expecting to cover a distance of say 200' or less straight-line or is it more of a "Top-Speed" type of "Drag" run?
During short straight blasts, our softer shores of 35 & 40 new wide rears would give much greater "hole-shots" than standard width or harder shore slicks, at the same time softer rubbers will wear a little quicker; its the same reality as in real 1:1 drag slicks.
Now if you're "dragstrip" length is over 200' and "top-end" or "trap speed" may play a greater role on victory, a slightly harder 45 or higher shore will help with less rolling resistance to help produce more mph.
I have a friend here in Tampa that has run our 50 & 55 shore slicks at 119+ mph. Their running surface, I believe is around 400' long and the harder shores more than make up for it in "trap speeds".
You'll also want to consider running a slightly harder shore front tire to help reduce rolling resistance and to add some more steering stability on the top end of the run.
Thank you, hope it helps!
