damm my father has a futaba that looked like that, he still does somewhere actually, it is gold tho, and throttle button or switch of throttle <however u want to call it,lol> is on the right side, thats amazing that they were making copycat rip-offs since way back then even.lol..had to be the 70's as he has a old 12th scale associated, possibly the first one ever, and i think a rc500 even...lol...

radio problems
Just for your information, there were alot of drivers with radio problems at the worlds. It was not any certain make or style of radio,Futaba,KO,Airtronics. They all had problems. There were drivers getting very creative in trying to solve there individual problems. So it wasn't Just Salven.

Lightweight cars is one reason. With Life and LiPo you first gonna put weight where you want it, in the battery tray. In that case why not sticking to heavy batteries? Also LiPo is not the right choice (anymore), people have experienced what extra electronics and in this case switching regulators can do to a reliable working receiver.
And last thing with exploding LiPo batteries. More clubs are making rules that Lithium based batteries must be charged in a LiPo bag and with balancers to prevent the small chance of an exploding battery

Serpent-Dan:
you asked "Were the PF R15's running well?"
The answer: YES - Absolutely. There were 2 Protoform R15's in the A-Main in the hands of 3rd place qualifier Dario Balestri and 4th place qualifier Takaaki Shimo.
All of the other 8 A-main qualifiers were equipped with Protoform P909 bodies.
R15 runner Dario Balestri was especially impressive during the main when he started reeling off incredible 15 second laps (as low as 15.7's) when everyone else was running mid 16's. Dario's lap times in the main were the quickest of the event - by anyone. It was not only amazing, but it also proved the R15 body style was up to the task. In the end (because of the rain) the finish results for the R15 body were the same as qualifying - Dario 3rd and Takaaki 4th.
Many congradulations to Robert Pietsch for his week long domination and big win!
Thanks to the many racers who opted to use Protoform Race Bodies at the WORLDS.
See you all on Japan in 2013!

Interview with Mike Swauger:
I have been working diligently on the Hara interview and I think I may need to call in the cavalry on it. If there are any video/audio professionals out there that would like a challenge please PM me! I could certainly use your help. It was a great interview and I'd hate to see it not get published because you all can't hear it.
