Hi there! When I were at the track last thursday driving my Serpent Impulse Pro, my cheap Futaba S3010 steeringservo got stripped and I don't think it's worht it to buy a gearset for 10 bucks + shipping + vat (I live in Sweden) when the servo costed 25 bucks..
So now I'm looking at some slightly used servos and have found these:

One friend on track sells a Futaba S9402 which is used pretty much but has new motor etc. He wants 50 USD (new here in sweden it costs 128 USD).

Another friend sells a never used KO Propo servo for around 60 bucks, but i don't know the model.

Then I've seen a guy selling a Futaba S9451 used one race and he wants 77 USD.

Which one of those should you recommend? Or anyone around the same price (I think the 9451 is a bit exspensive even now)?

Hi there Simon, Please will you get the model of the KO Servo, if it is a digital, I would suggest taking it NOW, those servos go for $95 dollars in HK but are aroung $200 in South Africa, and they are Awesome servos. You cant go wrong, but just get the model number and let us know.

Now I got the info, it's no digital but it looks very good to me anyway, 0.09 / 8 kg. The model nr. is PS-2173 FET.

Thats a pretty good servo.
You are right, that it is a non-digital servo.
Based on the model number, its a high-speed model
which should be suitable for steering.

Since its used, you might want to check the for possible
loose connections and cracks in the case. I guess it depends
on how you know the person you are buying it from.

But nevertheless, KO has an excellent Customer Service and
Repair Center. They can have your servo repaired and mailed
back to you in no-time, in case you need to.

The good thing with buying this KO is that the guy that sells it never used it so if there's any loose connections it's must have happend when it got shipped from the US to Sweden..

Yes, I'm going to use it as a steering servo since I stripped my old Futaba S3010 (6kg/0.16) last run. And since I'm no really pro (yet ) I won't need the very best. I think I order it so soon as i can, I really wanna drive you see

What about the Hitec 925 series Servo's ~ 90$ and as fast as the Futaba.

I dont like buying stuff just because its got a fancy name that starts with "f" on it. Airtronics is even worse

I would suggest digital steering servos, believe it or not, it does help on driving skill! it's so much more presiced meaning it center much better, holding power much better! worth every penny of it!

Ko are excellent, so does JR and Hitec, but you might want to consider Futaba too! I am running 9450 on MRX, KO2143 and hitec on MTX and I had them for a while already, no problem at all.

Clegg: The reason that I didn't include any hitec servos is only because I haven't seen any used ones of those..


AH10: Are they so much better that I should pay about 20 USD more for them when I'm only going to use them with a Hitec Lynx FM? That's not the worlds most precise radiossystem directly.. And since I'm 13 years I can't afford the best.. But if it's really good I gladly pay a little more, I just wanna be sure

Yes they worth the extra $20, besides they last a long time! not like something that only last 6 mths!

And since you're already in that range of spending, the little
difference ($20 or so) would count for a lot.

It has been established that on some of R/C items, the saying
"You get what you paid for" is actually true.

i run futaba 9403 all around for 2 years, i won mugen mtx2 and g4. it works great for both. its not digital so it doesnt drain your batterie of life!
