Mine was locking once after a rebuild but I found I had left a shim out (from memory). When new its still "chunky" but they break in.

I put a 6 gear diff in a CD3 pro kit.I just out the shims in the same as the 4 gear diff.Worked out great.

Differential Gear Pinion Stripping
Has anyone else had problems stripping the diff pinion gear ?
I stripped two of them this weekend. I have tried shimming all different ways, but semms like there is still too much play. Slick track I have had no problem, but this weekend I was running on smooth track with VHT traction compound and stripped teeth off of two pinions.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

I'm wondering if I need to remove the shims and see how it works. For a minute I thoughhht the screws (2x8, cut down a bit) were the problem, so I found soem 2x6 machine screws. But it still has its moments.
In unrelated moves, I snapped the output shaft on my HiTec steering servo. Since I'm on a bit of a budget for now, I got a set of Blue Bird servos. Nice specs and nice price. However, the steering servo is a bit taller than I wanted. I had to install a spacer under the servo to make it fit. I'll see how that works.

I finally figured out what my problem was. I tried to put the original washer/shims from the 4 gear diff but the fit was somewhat tight. I replaced those shims with thinner ones and that solved my problem. The Ofna shims are 5x10x.3mm and I replace them with Mugen cunt shims 5x10x.2mm and that did it.

Just added a little humor to my writing. That's how we reference the thinner shims at our local track, didn't mean to offend anyone. LOL
