Hey Guys,

This past weekend I tested the sedan tires and compared the regular rim to the Lighter Carbon Wheel.

The regular rims are very good and super strong. I ran these the entire weekend, except for one qualifier. They performed good and can really take a hit. In the final I got on the bump to close and flipped my car and slid straight into a 4x4 board. This was on the first lap and I smacked the side of the car at the wheels super hard. I was able to just get turned over and finish the event. Was even able to still Win it. The tires did not even get out of round. It was a great test that I did not mean to happen, but it did.

As for the Carbon Wheel, I found it to be a little better and it gave me more consistent laps. I was about 1-2 tenths faster on fast lap, but the biggest improvement was over the 5 minutes. The car changed direction better and held the line in the turns a little easier. Also when the car shifts it seems to really hold that power and just take off.

Hope this helps,

Hi DJ,

Did you have to make any setup changes to the car when you switched between Carbon and regular tires??? (More Toe-in or camber)??

No they are not. The Carbon are about 10-12 grams lighter per set.

Default Contct-RC compared to other brands?

For 1/8 on-road, can anybody describe how theses tires behave compared to other brands, and in what way they differs. Other brands I am familiar to is:

- GRP shore 35
- Twister shore 35
- IDM shore 35
- IDM shore 35 rear/32 front
- IDM carbon rims 35 shore

Thanks,
P-H

I think you will find the Contact Tires to give more steering and have great fit to the axles. I have not tried the new GRP's, so I can not say compared to those, but the others I have run at some point.

You will be happy with the tires, I am sure!

We are going to test the Carbon wheels and see how they perform at the Pre-Worlds. We will decide from there if it is something worth bringing in. I will keep you informed.

Default Offset on Contact Rims - 1/10th Scale

G'day DJ,

Just a quick question if I may. Do you know what the offset is on the 1/10th scale rims. I just fitted a set to my NT1 and when I checked the track width F/R it was 2-3 mm wider than what it was with the previous tires I had been running (RB's). So this tells me that there is some offset built into the Contact rims. It is no issue as I just adjusted the hubs in to make the car legal again but I'll be interested to see how the car goes set up this way.

The tyres look good though and I'm looking forward to running them.

Thanks for your feedback.
