do u put the cap on when the shaft extended or compressed?

iv always put the shaft extended, but i was watching this guy in this video and he puts the cap on compressed?

(fast forward to 5.30mins.)

I have always had mine compressed, but a friend of mine does it your way
Tamyia has a nice vacuum pump tool that I seen floating around the pits lately, looks very interesting

They only make 'Super Long, and dont make 'Long' anymore. I wonder if the 'Super Long' one will fit 1/10 scales.

I have never tried it, but it seem liked their was a waiting line for it in the pits LOL
