I think he means that his car is not idling well.
To fix this, you adjust the idle screw which is located next to the carb intake, depending on what engine you have. Make sure the carb opening is 0.5mm.

If you can't pump fuel into the engine by opening the throttle fully and giving a few pulls with the exhaust blocked, then it sounds like you need to adjust mixtures...
Turn your high and low end needles anti clockwise at LEAST 1/2 a turn, if not 1 full turn...
An engine will run at nearly double the amount of fuel as an optimum setting, but you can drop out very quickly by going lean...
Can you even get the engine to start?

Starts on really hot, humid or high barometric pressure days?
Just go and turn your high and low speed needle anticlockwise about 1/2 a turn... and try priming again, if it doesn't prime, turn another 1/2 turn anticlockwise... (richen the mixture)

It sounds like your running LEAN majorly... put the needle in, screw it IN all the way, then turn it anti clockwise, about 2 1/2 turns, ON BOTH needles...
Getting it to idle is a matter of getting the low end tuned...
But yes it may be a case of an air leak...
It really is hard to diagnose and fix a problem...
Most of the time we can help and give a few reasons, sometimes we can fix, but usually you can't fix properly unless you see the car...
